Wheel balancing and alignment

Wheel balancing and alignment
Hi guys,
Just got a set of rims (used for a couple of years). Can I just put these on, or is it a good idea to get them balanced. If so how often should tires be balanced?
Same with alignment. When should I go for an alignment? In your experience, do Accords need to be aligned frequently? Had the car for 10+ years and no alignment. Wheel wear looks normal (they are rotated once a year).
THanks

Well it is best to just pay the money and get them balanced, but if they need new tires somewhat soon, go ahead and just get them done and then obviously they will balance the wheels once the new tires are put on. For the alignment, you answered your own question. If tire wear is normal and the tries look straight up and down and side to side (toe and camber) then you should be fine. Not like you are lowering it or anything.

You should get them balanced. Are you going to a different sized rim? When you get the tires mounted, you should have them balanced.
You should only have to get the tires balanced when you put new ones on. I've never seen a recommended interval(it might possibly be 100,000 miles, but i can't remember). If you start to notice wear, or shaking, then you should get them balanced. If that doesn't fix it, get the alignment checked. But generally it's only when you get tires mounted that you have to worry about the balancing.
