F23A1. Can Anyone Diagnose this With me?
So my 98 CG5 has been giving me some weird symptoms lately. To start of it has 273k miles and still going, yes it burns a little bit of oil and leaks a little bit and it always has. Car starts to sputter and bog out between 1900 - 3500 RPM, 5min after driving. It almost feels like VTEC isn't engaging and it isn't getting enough fuel. And it only happens when im on 1/4 of throttle to half throttle. If i mash the accelerator it runs like it should all the way to red line. any ideas?
i have Replaces and calibrated the TPS
also replaced MAP sensor a little while back.
IAT, Temp Switch and, Temp Sender have also been replaced recently.
oh and it has fresh new oil in it too.
heres also a video of it doing it

Be careful with the f23a1 I have one in my 01 accord ex and I’m having the worst time with it. If you find a milkshake like oil mixture in your coolant but only your coolant, do not let a mechanic tell you it’s a head gasket. Do a lot of research on porous blocks. These particular engines are notorious for it. And for them being misdiagnosed as a gasket and I’ve seen about 100 threads on this site from people replacing the gaskets and it still happens. Engine block replacement is what’ll most likely be the fixer.

That’s lucky. And it is. I legit just bought it in July. It was only supposed to be the clutch kit and brakes that needed replaced at the time of purchase, since September I’ve done the clutch plate, brakes, 4 wheels, starter, battery, alignment, stereo, speakers, rotors, reservoir tank, upper and lower radiator hoses, brake line, thermostat/gaskets, and engine mounts. 4200$ so far.
I still have spark plugs, wheel bearings, timing belt kit, oxygen sensor, exhaust manifold headers, an air intake coupler and a whole new engine. I can get this last bunch of **** for 800 online right now. I’m rebuilding it if you hadn’t gathered that from all the work I’ve done lol
if you do happen to come across this particular problem, keep it at bay with coolant flushes they’ll be your best friend. I do one like once a month, I get as much of the milkshake like oil/coolant mix out of the radiator and reservoir tank as I can. I run hot water through the radiator to get as much out as possible. The oil mix will be all up in the radiator hoses and engine block as well but it’s harder to get to those. Engine block replacement is the only fix unless you can pull the engine out, clean it, find the leaks, and seal them all.
If it’s the porous engine leak it’s gonna look just like this in your radiator and reservoir tank. I’ve had 5 mechanics all tell me they KNOW it’s a head gasket. There isn’t one sign that shows that. No exhaust smoke, no coolant in the oil, no overheating UNLESS I’d forget to check and fill the coolant. So I extensively searched everything I could find and long behold every mechanic I spoke to was wrong. 100 percent porous engine.
