ok ive had this for a long time now and ik its not just me because all my friends have told me and agree that my engine bay smells like marijuana!!! yes .... and i dont smoke it or have had it in the car or anything like that so idk but even in the garage it makes it smell like it in the morning when i go or if u pop the hood anywhere when car is off or on too i guess it smells like it .. idk what might be causing this or if its serious lol. but no joke tho why does it emit a smell of weed ......

Are you sure there are no leaves or other plant life that has fallen onto the exhaust? Are you sure it's not burning plastic? Maybe there is a kilo stashed in your car that the PO forgot to take out

Drug runners do take apart cars and hide drugs inside the various parts. You could very well have some tucked up in there if you got it from someone shady. Or maybe someones mechanic dropped their roach.

no i took that car apart to the max theres no plant life in it .... and it had this for a few years since i remember ... so no marijuana can possibly be there it would have died out .... so idk whats causing the smell ... idk if its a mixture of spills grease gas oil coolant or stuff like that that make it smell like it ....
im thinking it might be from battery or cat cuz ive heard b4 that they may cause a "rotten egg odor" or something like that but im not sure ...

A battery being overcharged will stink, badly. It will also cause the battery to over heat and overflow/leak out of the vents.
Faulty A/C can also cause a similar rotten egg smell.
And again with an over cooked catalyst.

But these all have the distinct rotten egg smell, not the pungent wacky tobacy stankonia that weed gives off.

Hello.

Catalytic Converters put out a nasty smell when they start filling up.

Insulation also smells bad when it gets hot and smolders.

My Grandmother's friend took us to St. Louis once in a Cadillac. The Catalytic Converter filled up and some of the insulation got hot. Holy cow! It made our eyes water and we hacked and coughed until we got to a service station.

Have you used an engine degreaser on the motor? That puts out a pretty bad smell for a while too.

im pretty sure my battery is fine ... unless it gets messed up from the radiator fan staying on for 30 min after car is off to cool down.... but it doesnt leek or anything .... my cat should be fine i took it off b4 when i got a new catback exhaust and it didnt smell rotten .. there is no check engine light on for O2 censor so it cant be the cat ..... but as for engine degreaser ... im not sure .... maybe my dad used it long ago but idk.... maybe i have a leak and when it heats it up it smells like that im guessing .... i might have a freon leak cuz my ac doesnt work ... blows hot air ... coolant was spilt around ik this for sure ..... maybe its that .
