Default Transmission fluid question

Alright so i am changing my transmission fluid out with honda atf fluid and am also adding lucas transmission fix because of the hard shifting and other issues. On the lucas transmission fix bottle it says to add 12oz to compact transmissions. The bottle is 24oz and i was wondering if i should just add the entire bottle along with the honda fluid.

Do NOT NOT NOT use any of that "transmission fix" crap in that transmission. You are going to **** it up even more.

Drain and refill 3 times and follow regular procedure.

now should i drain and fill with strictly honda fluid or could i use a castrol atf high mileage fluid insted? like i said it shifts hard and i am looking for a way to extend the life as long as possible. i really am a believer in castrol and i believe that that fluid would help but i am not sure.

Get the latest Honda ATF, and do the drain, then fill, clean off the drain plug of shavings if there (my DX had a **** ton) and then drive it around for a bit, then drain it again and fill her back up, do the same, then do it all once more.

You'll flush out majority of the old fluid this way. Should help your shifting tremendously.

ive got a friend that has been working on cars for his entire life and right now he has a nissan altima with over 260k and he uses the castrol atf high mileage fluid and he said that it has helped him tremendosly. i have heard other good things about castrol fluid and really would like to switch. i have been draining and filling the transmission using the honda atf every 3000 miles now since around 140k and have not noticed any difference. if i use the castrol fluid will it hurt the transmission or what? on the bottle it says recomended for use in honda/acura vehicles so i think it may work.

yeah its for all honda/acura automatics except cvts. i dont want to replace the transmission yet i just want to extend the life of this one. the castrol is a thicker fluid so i know that it will help stop some of the shuddering/shifting issues. i was going to drain and fill 3 times with the castrol fluid to see if it helps if not i will probably drain and refill going back to honda fluid.

Use HONDA ATF fluid Only!!! Drain and fill two or three times and clean off shavings on the drain plug. Remenber, drive around a little between changes! My automatic transmission has 194k and runs perfect (98 accord 4-cyl) and i bought it brand new. I have always used HONDA ATF. This fluid is specifically designed for HONDA's ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if its shifting hard, you might have bad springs in your accumulators, the only thing that might help you is like they said, replacing the transmission or rebuilding it.
