Default Tossed out of Jiffy Lube

Jiffy Lube refused to change my oil because the last guy (Honda Specialist) used silicon on the drain plug.

I went back to the guy and asked why he used silicon. He said the drain plug was damaged. He sees it all the time. Figures folks don't want to spend 400 bucks on a new oil pan. So, he uses silicon on ALL his cars coming in for oil changes. It's fast and it seals well.

I told him that, because he used silicon, I can only assume that HE was the one who damaged my oil pan.

He said that he did not do it. He is very careful. The last guy before him did not. He did not do it.

Then, some guy in a brand new Lexus comes up and yells at him. Said that he was tossed out of the Lexus dealer because the specialist used silicon.

Later on, I talked to the Lexus guy and asked why he took a brand new car in to this schmuck? He said his wife wants to save money.

I told him my story and we both agreed the specialist is a retard.

Why the heck did this idiot use silicon? I spent 2500 fixing my car at his shop. He used silicon on a petty oil change and he's completely lost my business forever.

Just what is this idiot thinking?

What was the deal with Jiffy Lube and the Lexus place. I mean I really don't see the point of the silicone but why can't Jiffy Lube just yank out the plug anyway? Silicone is not like JB Weld or something.

Jiffy lube wont change it because the drain plug won't stay in without silicone. If they change it they will be responsible if the drain plug leaks. Jiffy lube is watching out for themselves which is smart as hell.

i understand Jiffy lubes worries.

As for the specialist, Remove the ist add a space followed by an ed. That would be a much better description of him as a mechanic

Please guys...... as a Honda Tech, I get offended that you call this quack a
Honda Specialist
He gives mechanics a bad name.

Even easier goto napa and ask for a oversized piggyback oil drain plug. It does the job it bolts in then has a bolt on the plug to drain. So you never have to remove the actual drain plug again.Worked perfect for my stripped oil pan threads.

He was a former Honda technician who opened his own shop. He installed a new strut for my friend's car. It popped off on the freeway. Had to be towed 25 miles back to the shop.

One easy way to solve that problem.
