Timing belt/water pump parts list
New here. 2002 Accord EX 3.0 liter V-6. Daily driver, 130,000 miles so need to get it up to spec. I need to do the timing belt and water pump ASAP, and then some other basic maintainence. I'll have a shop do the work, but I want to buy my own parts.
From FCPImports (i use them for Volvo parts, but if there are good Honda OEM parts suppliers, please link me to them. I'm not sure this kit is OEM), they have a kit that includes
-TB286 Acura Honda Engine Timing Belt (CL TL MDX Odyssey Pilot Accord) - Continental
-131-2256 Acura Honda Engine Water Pump (CL TL MDX Accord Odyssey Pilot)
-435-9380 Acura Honda Timing Belt Tensioner (TL CL Accord Odyssey) - GMB
-435-9370 Acura Honda Timing Belt Roller - GMB
-052-3605 Acura Honda Engine Crankshaft Seal (CL TL RL Legend MDX Accord Odyssey Pilot)
-052-4006 Acura Honda Engine Camshaft Seal (CL TL RL MDX Accord Odyssey Pilot Ridgeline)
Questions.
1. Does this parts list look right? If not, can you point me to a list so I can get the right parts?
2. Are there other parts I should get?
(I just found a Kit from TAS that doesn't have the tensioner, pulleys or seals, but does add the compressor belt and power steering belts)
3. Are there other elective things I should do? Ie..serpentine belt?
4. Any general suggestions or links are appreciated. I've tried searching this..but not coming up with what I need. And I'm abit confused now.
Next: (I'll do other posts)
-General tune up info (I'm not looking to do mods, just drive to work) Nothing has been done to this car at this point. No plugs, wires, etc...
-Bakes? Is it worth paying for cross drilled rotors and nicer pads?
Many thanks to you all.
Dave

A good OEM parts dealer is HondaAutomotiveParts.com
I've not really familiar with the V6 timing belt so I won't comment on that.
For brakes I'd just go with Brembo blanks (not slotted or drilled) and a good pad, if you'd like more suggestions just search because this has been discussed many times over.

Me, the serp belt has to come off...why not put a new on.
Plugs coming out make it easy to set TDC....so why not....and at this point tonight, can't remember if the 02 still had a dist, pretty sure (?)...if so again why not replace the cap/rotor and inspect/test the wires.

For original parts, I go to http://www.conicellihondaparts.com/. They have good prices and much better than my local Honda dealers. For plugs, I go to Amazon. Just search for NGK ZFR5F-11 or Denso KJ16CR-L11. Make sure get the platinum.

Re: Timing belt/water pump parts list
Thanks everyone. I found a kit on ebay....aisin pump, koto pulleys and bando belts. Looks pretty good. Has everything. Cost is about $370. Shop said about $475 labor. End up around $750...maybe $800, but with all new parts.
One more question. The kit includes a thermostat. Is the thermostat something that should be changed with the water pump, or is it easy enough to get to that you leave it until in breaks? They have other kits that take the thermostat out.

Re: Timing belt/water pump parts list
When you replace a water pump you first drain the coolant from the car, so with all the coolant already drained it's a good time to replace the thermostat.

Re: Timing belt/water pump parts list
I just picked up the timing belt kit from www.handa-accessories.com, about $164 shipped for a 4 cylinder version. Included timing belt, water pump, and three other belts.
My mechanic, whom I trust and have used for 15+ years, said he would charge me $250 to do the job. Sounded good to me.
Good tip, I'll have that done!
