Default Starting Issue

Ok Honda Guys. I've inherited a '96 Accord w/V-Tech and many issues to rundown. The first to be addressed is starting.

Turn the key, fuel pump cycles as should, pressure in fuel rail, enginecranks over normal will not start. Replaced Ignition Module and installed adifferent Computer. While troubleshooting I noticed when I tested signal fromComputer to distributor I got a flash with test light when first turned key tostart but more flash while it continued to crank. Put Dist. Cap back on, when Ifirst turn key I get a spark, only one spark, no spark as it continues tocrank. Just bump the starter, I get one spark every time. Hook up everything, justbump turned key to just bump the starter a few times, engine starts and runsgood. Strong, smooth running engine. V-Tech kicks in and gets up and goes.

Doesn't matter if engine cold, warm or hot; Lately It is more difficult inthe cold. It doesn't matter if I cycle the fuel pump 5-10 times before start.Only way it will start is by Bump starting, (Only 1 spark while starting). Italso has an IAC Issue and a Fan non-op issue, but that'll be later posts.

Anybody have experience with this issue??

Check your ecu. You might have a failing capacitor

I found the problem, thanks to PAHonda and NorCalAccord, for putting m on the right track. There was voltage with Ign Switch in position II on the Blk/Yel wire goig to the distributor but voltage went away in start position. Then I remembered, about a year and half ago my daughter and her boy friend broke down on the highway. I found the Ign switch and master relay shorted. I repaired the circuit card in the master relay but the work around for the Ign switch was I moved the Blk/Yel wire in the plug from
terminal 6"><span style=terminal 6" /> terminal 6">terminal 6
to terminal 2. This allowed me to get the car going by bump starting and getting her off the highway. Months later when I got around to replacing the Ign Switch, I didn't reverse the http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/forum/# in the plug. I have now corrected this and uvula, problem solved.
Again, Thanks PAHonda and NorCalAccord you were on target.

Everyone now knows, in an emergency when the Ign Switch shorts, move Blk/Yel wire in terminal 6 to terminal 2. Just bump the starter to get your one or two sparks and you can limp it home. You got to be a little patient though when starting.
