I have a 2000 Accord SE with the SRS light on. I have tried the procedure listed on this forum but failed at the fourth step. The SRS light does not go off at this step. Any ideas?

Erasing the DTC memory

1)turn ignition switch off

2)connect the scs service connector to the MES connector. Do not use a jumper wire

3)turn igition switch to on

4)The SRS indicator light will come on for about 6 seconds, and then go off. Remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds after the light comes on

5)The SRS indicator will come on again. Reconnect the SCS service conector to the MES connectoer within 4 seconds after the light comes on.

6)When the SRS indicator light goes off, remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds.

7)The SRS indicator light will blink 2 times indicating that the memory has been errased

8)turn the ignition switch to off and wait for 10 seconds.

I know what your thinking. WTF is the MES connector? good question. maybe someody with a digi-cam can take a pic and post it. its up under the steering wheel. Above and behind the scan tool connector (where you jumper it to get CEL codes)

Isnt the wire harness yellow, the connector should be plugged into a dead end plug for safety and security. I use a paperclip but you must be firm inserting and removing. Put one end in deep and hold on to it good, use the other end of the paperclip to make and break the circuit, and be firm. If you make a circuit with the paperclip it cannot slip and loose continuity and make continuity a second time. It would be better to make a switch with a switch from Radio Shack, three position switch, closed circuit to the left, open circuit in the middle and closed circuit to the right. No mistakes, as soon at the light does something, move the switch to the opposite end, dont wait close to those 4 seconds, the faster the better. This also may sound silly but try closing the door while making and breaking your circuit, I might have just been screwing it up, but when I closed the door, it worked, WTF??????
