Replacing VSS on a 1990 Accord LX
I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX. The S light on the gauges always stays on and the speedometer doesn't work. Sometimes it may work for a bit, like it'll shoot up to show the speed for a minute or so and then go back down. It's totally random like that.
I bought a VSS off Ebay and I can't for the life of me figure out where the thing goes. I've looked at multiple sites; some say it's on top of the tranny and some say it's under the thermostat housing. What I did find has this weird vacuum tube running out of the back of it going into the firewall.
Any help at all would be appreciated. This is the new part I bought.

Re: Replacing VSS on a 1990 Accord LX
Just replaced my VSS today...In my car, it was located above the transmission and just below the middle strut tower near the firewall. At first I looked in the thermostat housing area right by the distributor cap but it was nowhere to be found. I think for my car it was located towards the back area of the engine bay because I have a V6 engine. Just keep looking and you should find it. If it helps I have a 95 Accord EX V6 model. Good luck!
