Removing antenna

Removing antenna
Hi guys,
The stubby antenna broke off in the car wash. How do you remove the antenna?
I followed HONDADUDES instructions (from the FAQ) and took off the liner in the trunk. How do I remove the mast? Pull it from inside the trunk? Is there a nut to be removed on the car exterior? I am wondering how it stays up. The antenna has a rubber/plastic covering. (See pictures)
Also I have rust building up. What would be the best way to deal with this?

Re: Removing antenna
You are not working with a factory installed antenna. Your antenna was bought at K-Mart and installed by some kid during his lunch break at McDonalds.
Just unscrew the bottom part from the top part and it will come out of the hole. Unless you are going to install a new antenna in the same hole, I would just leave the old stub, as nothing is going to fix the hole other than some bodywork.

You do not have a power antenna, so there is no mast. Yes, that was installed by some kid. You could just buy another antenna with similar looking stub and unscrew the broken off part and screw on the new one from outside the car. Yes, other than body work, nothing is going to fix the hole left by the old antenna if you remove it.

Re: Removing antenna
Step One: remove or drill out the screw in the first pic, the one in the side of the ball.
Step Two: remove the now exposed screw, try not to cry at the rust carnage.
Step Three: weld that hole shut(optional)
