Ok this **** just started happening out of nowhere 1 day before the first car show of the season for over my way guess i wont be going. Ok heres my problem i notice earlier on my way to work it was getting really hard to shift into gears so i checked my clutch fluid and that is fine the funny thing is that i kept on loseing all my clutch fluid in a day in a half but the car was shifting perfect now that i'm not loseing clutch fluid the problem starts. Now its hard to shift into all gears. just last nite it was shifting perfect. The clutch pedal does feel funny tho but when the car is off i can get into all my gears with ease.

replace you slave and clutch master cylinder. i feel you cause it happened to me last year. that sh*t sucks a**

Agreed, same thing with me. Only mine was only leaking out of the slave cylinder. Inspect and replace both if neccesary and bleed the system.

i just touched my slave cylinder and all this fluid just nutted all over my hand lol

so wait....your car gave you lots of warning that the clutch hydraulics were failing....so you added more fluid....but never went and fixed the problem....as in replace the failing parts? Sounds like its time to replace some hydraulic cylinders or take it to a shop...

one is on the clutch pedal and the other is on the tranny (slave on tranny , master on clutch pedal assembly) i believe....and if you can just replace them both because after i replace one the other went. soo.. yea handle dat. drain and fill honda mtf too.

how much would it cost to replace both of them? I mean labor cost wise?

ugh, it was awhile ago when i got mine. if i can find the paper work i'll let you know. i think it was less than $250 w/ parts & labor. just throwin a number off the head though.

Do it yourself and save yourself a bunch of money. It's not too difficult to do on your own, a haynes or helms manual helps alot. I have a brand new master cylinder for a 92-95 civic I could throw your way if it fits your accord (you'd have to check). Anyway, if you plan to do it on your own, here are the tools you need:


New parts (Master and Cylinder)
Bleeder kit (clear hose is all you really need)
Flare nut wrenches (sizes 10mm through 14mm at least)
Lots of Dot3 brake/trans fluid (I think they are the same thing)
A friend to help bleed the system

don't take it to a shop to have either of these replaced. Both can easily be done yourself for a lot cheaper. My friends Civic had a master cylinder go bad and he was going to take it in, I told him to go buy the part and I would replace it, had it replaced and system bled within 30 minutes.

If it's just the slave cylinder thats leaking, replace just that. Just because one goes doesn't mean both will go. oem, yours was most likely coincidence. But to double check, look up behind the dash on the firewall where the clutch pedal is, if the master cylinder is leaking you will see fluid on the firewall running down to the carpet.

i had just bought my car, and at the time.. didn't know anything about em. i do it all myself now (unless i need an alignment)

the clutch master went about 2 weeks after the slave did so yeah, but like you said he should double check.

When my clutch did this, it was just the slave cylinder. I replaced that and the master cylinder was fine. Btw, slave is way cheaper

yeah its really not that hard to do. when i did my auto to manual swap, i wasn't mechanically inclined at all. it was pretty easy though. save yourself the money and learn to do it yourself. the only hard part is bleeding it if your alone. have a helping hand or have a self bleeding vacuum pump. sounds like you asked for help and you got feed up with not getting your question answer. this is an easy fix and anyone with a 5spd could have told you what was wrong. the only stupid question is when you don't ask or search for your answer.

Yes, it is very easy to replace. The first time mine went out, I changed it myself. It cost me about $15-$18 for the part with a lifetime warranty from Pep Boys. The lifetime warranty came in handy, because it went out 1 year after that. I knew how easy it was now, so it took me about 30 mins to swap it out. I havent had any trouble since then. That was about 2 years ago.
