Default power steering smoke

Hey guys just curious but does power steering being burnt smell like burnt rubber? I just noticed my high pressure hose is leaking where it meets the pump and its throwing fluid all over my belts. is there anything I can do to bypass my power steering till I can get a new hose? I tried looking for the o ring but its hard to find. :/ car is a 95 accord

You could take the belt off avoid too much fluid spraying every where. Replace the hose and put on a new belt. Yes, I would recommend a new belt as your current one is probably soak with PS fluid. The rubber smell is from the oil hitting the belt and heated up under the hood.

Great advice BD!
Also replace your ps fluid while you're at it.

I think 2 bottles should do it and make sure and please make sure it's Honda fluid. If you plan on flushing then 4 bottles. But make sure the catch can or bucket is big as it shoots out fast and it smell bad as gear oil. Please make sure never to let the PS pump run dry.

I want to give advice to people to get the Honda PS, but then some people think I try to promote/sell honda's parts.

imo, the best way to flush/change ps fluid, brake fluid is to use those huge syringe or pipet and suck out the fluid. For those people those who has a compressor, just get Mityvac Vacuum Brake Bleeder/Evacuator.

(I usually do an oil change, atf, ps, brake fluid every 2-3k. Those are free at the dealership :D )
