Power steering pump making noise!! Why so early?
I have a 1998 accord 4-cyl. with 112k miles and is making a humming-light buzzing noise. WHY SO SOON??? Belt tension is perfect and is original factory power sterring pump. Anybody else with a 98-02 Accord with the same problem? Any suggestions why so soon? Driving and sterring are not a problem, just annoying noise. Thanks.

is the fluid dirty ? did you use only honda power steering fluid in it ? if i were you i would just flush your power steering system that may cure the problem

Re: Power steering pump making noise!! Why so early? (Stripped Honda)
I have a 90 cord and I have a small leak in the p/s, have been meaning to get it fixed or contemplating removal...but its only a couple lbs so I might just fix it up. But when the fluid is lower than normal and the car is cold it makes a buzzing/humming sound, make sure and check your lines for your p/s and your reservoir. Also you may want to notice any fluids when and after your park level ground, uphill, and downhill. My car won't leak any p/s on uphill or level just downhill and unfortunately thats how i have to park my car. I would check the lines and if you cant find any leaks I would say flush it and start over with honda fluid. just my 2 pennies. Also does it go away after it (the fluid) warms up or all the time?
