Default Power Steering Fluid Flash

I am think about power steering fluid flash by myself for my 96 honda accord EX car. I read some Honda power steering fluid flash instrctions. They said that turn the car on and turn steering wheel side end to another side end couple of times to remove dirty fluid out from return line when PSF reservoir is empty and return line is removed. My question is that any possible to damager power steering pump by doing this way because reservoir is empty. Thanks a lot!

Whatever instructions you read were 100% wrong. You should never run that system empty. You really need a friend helping you with the process - have one person in the car SLOWLY turning wheel lock to lock, while the return line from the ps pump is emptying into a funnel/bucket. At the same time this is happening you should be adding clean fluid into the reservoir - when the clear fluid comes out the other end you can seal it back up and bleed the system to remove any possible air from it.
