possible main relay trouble?
can a bad main relay make the car die when it is running or does it only affect starting? my 1990 accord died on my dad while he was driving it. it was 80 degrees out and he had been driving for awhile. car cranked over but wouldn't restart. Got it towed and then it started later on. i think i remember it doing this before. main relay?

It could be the main relay, but it could also be the fuel pump.
Go buy a Haynes or Chiltons manual. Those are great for diagnosing problems like these.
I'm not sure how to test for a main relay. If you turn the key to the II position, you should hear the fuel pump prime. I've had the fuel pump quit on me before. It was only $20 for another one at a junkyard.

Yes, but it's very rare. I would look elsewhere first.
