Default Performance Chip (96 accord)

So i'm thinking of buying a performance chip.
I found one made by X2 that is suposed to add quite a bit of horsepower, and be interchangeable between power and engine effecency.
how bad can this be for my engine? if im doing a quarter mile drag or racing someone and have my chip turned up, am I using power that my engine isn't suposed to be using?

(by the way, i have the 2.2 Non-VTec it is the F22B2)

My main question, is what are the pro's and con's of chipping my car?

There is no hidden power to be found using a super chip on a stock F22B2. It will not unleash any power. The F22B2 in stock form is putting down just about as much power as it's going to put down. In order to find some extra power you would need a custom tune. And to get any real power gains. You would have to change the engine internals and/or boost it and tune it properly.

The X2 Chip is what is know as a hack. it is basically a resistor installed on the signal wire of an OEM sensor. Hacking or changing the signal and tricking the ECU into thinking conditions are different than they really are. Therefore the ECU will change the fuel and timing to try and match these false conditions. Not always giving you more power. More than likely you would just burn more gas.

There are legitimate tuning or chipped ECUs available for Honda vehicles. Most are in the $200+ range and require some sort of a custom tune for your car. Do a search for chipped OBD1 ECU's. There is a section on them in the engine management forum. There is tones of information online about them. Again though, a stock F22B2 isn't going to see much of a power gain for the cost.
