parking accord in garage
Okay I need some help
When I learned how to drive, I always parked on the left side of the garage (mom's van). But now that I have my Accord 2003, I have to park on the right side of the garage. I'm having a lot of difficulty getting it down, since I'm always afraid I'm going to hit the side of the garage. Plus, manuevuring in the garage is extremely difficult, since there's a metal cabinet to the right, with metal handles that don't stick out that much. My dad set up the tennis ball hanging down from a string which lies dead center in the middle of my windshield when I park correctly. However, I'm still having trouble pulling in.
Since my mom's van is parked to the left, I have to park as far right as possible (people are always using the van, need the car as far away from that passenger door). Is there any suggestions, tricks, tips, tutorials that any of you might have that could help me? Thanks - I've also included a picture of the garage just incase you wanted to know what I am up against . Thanks
(note: since the picture was taken, I have moved the table and the lawn mower is flush with the side )

Sorry if the question seems wierd, it's just that most of my friends park their cars outside and I figured there must be a couple people in this forum that park on the right, and since they drive similar cars, I assumed maybe they had some suggestions?

ill be honest, i find it a lot easier to back up into garages to get to where you want to be. use the side mirrors.

Re: parking accord in garage (aux)
Until you learn how to back up in that way, this is what I would do. Back the car up into the driveway, and stop the car right before you enter the garage. Shift into neutral, and push the car back in. Make sure someone is either in the car, or behind it so they can stop it.

put a stopper by your front wheels..when it touches the wheels, you should be relatively close to the front of your garage. as for the sides... adjust and go in as straight as possible when going in. should prevent from clipping the sides. i park next to an slk320, so i make sure i don't bump him

Re: parking accord in garage (Mocky57)
okay came back from my study group meeting today, pulled into the garage.
drove far enough so the nose entered the garage: All good, so I pulled the car in some more.
aimed for the ball to align with the middle of my wind shield (there's a nice black center piece on the dash that makes this moderately easier).
Almost perfectly hit the ball in the center (actually shifted over to the left - eek).
So I got out to check everything out - There's seriously 2-3 inches between my car and the side of the garage - maybe even less. Then while I was pulling in, I heard a faint sound, as almost as if I ran over/into something, but when I got out, I saw nothing under or next to the car. Do these cars make small sounds like that just for no reason?
Again, suggestions are much appreciated I'm not sure how effective my targetting the tennis ball technique is.

If you asked this question in any other forum you would seriously be mocked. I'm surprised at how relaxed the Accord people are. Try asking this question in the type r forum.

Re: parking accord in garage (Kavehman)
I know it seems like a dumb question, but I'll admit, I'm not that experienced of a driver. I got my license last july and I've only had the accord for about a month now - driving it maybe two or three times a week (I live really close to my hs, so there's no point driving it and risking leaving it in the parking lot).
The accord forum has always been really nice to me, and I thank you guys for sticking through all my stupid questions. Sometimes, there are people in the other forms as you said that would mock me for this question. But these forums are to help each other right? so I thank you guys again for being always willing to help me out through my problems as I become a better driver.
