( MUST READ ALL TO UNDERSTAND AND BE ABLE TO HELP)!!!!!!!I have a 1990 honda accord ex with a slow 4speed A/T (automatic transmission) it has about 100+ Thousand miles. When I first got the car I wasn't into cars I didn't take care of my car and neither did the owner that I got it from my sisters father in law. I got it in 2011 for the first year I had I didn't change the oil or sparkplugs or wires or air filter so long story short I took my car 2 years ago to get a rear motor mount in because I couldn't figure out how to install the new one and that mechanic was slime ball peice of terd mest up my car more left my distributor cap loose after changing my rotar and broke off the resonator on my exhaust and didn't want to fix it or give me my money back so I said I would never go back To a mechanic again in fear of the same outcome so I swore to learn everything I could about cars to fix my own car and help other honestly and not cheat them of money so if your still reading This thank you for not giving up like everyone else has so up to date I changed my oil regularly now and I recently started to notice the smell of gas in the oil and don't know what exactly to do or what to test to see how I can address this problem please no smart remarks I just need help in the right direction if you have encountered this problem and fixed it please share how thank you for reading.

Fuel smell in oil normally means blow by ,which means in the combustion process fuel is getting by the piston rings and into the crank case. The only real way to test to see if your piston rings are sealing correctly is to preform a cylinder leak down. Do a little research and you will find all the info on how to do it. Good luck.

Holy run-on sentences batman If the car is running good, just make sure you change your oil every 3k.

Check/replace your pcv valve too. I've heard it helps the rings seal.

Lol yeah sorry for those run ons kinda just blurting everything out there. But any way I did a compression test today and these are my numbers let me know if they are bad or good please I counted to 10 everytime I cranked it over.

Dry test/ wet test
Cylinder 1) 140/ 165
Cylinder 2) 144/ 160
Cylinder 3) 144/ 160
Cylinder 4) 140/ 160 But I think I put touch oil in cylinder 1 because I did the wet test twice on it and it went down to 160 163 around there it was in the middle between 160 and 165 and then I added a little bit more oil and it went back up to 165.

Well if you never changed the oil in two years, it will smell like gas.
Change the oil and filter.

Compression looks good. Fix the broken stuff and enjoy your Accord.

Mad_mike I did another compression test today but only counted to 5 and these were my numbers,


Cylinder 1 dry;135 / wet;156
Cylinder 2 dry;130 / wet;156
Cylinder 3 dry;135 / wet;140
Cylinder 4 dry;135 / wet;155

WOT with fuel injector unplugged or fuel pump relay pulled but if it runs and doesn't miss do regular maintenance and drive it until it dies.

When doing a compression check you do not want the air resistance provided by the closed throttle body butterfly. It must be all the way open(WOT) for correct compression check.
