Oil Light Flashing
I have a 1995 Honda Accord wagon and the oil light started flashing last night a few miles away from home. I started the car this am (temp outside was about 30 degrees) and the light didn't flash till I drove a few miles. I discovered the oil was low and added 2 quarts . . the problem did not resolve . . I drove about 5 more miles to the next Murray's auto and added 2 more quarts . . once again no resolution and when I am idle at a traffic light the temp gauge creeps into the red zone. I turned the car off at the stop lights and made my way home and shut the car off. Any ideas of what it could be?

Re: Oil Light Flashing (Surfwatch)
Are the cooling fans cycling at about 1/2 temp on the gauge?
The top and bottom radiator hoses should be about the same temp if the T-stat is opening, when the gauge shows 1/2 way.
The oil light could be a bad pressure sending unit, plugged up oil sump screen, or the car was run so low on oil that the crank main bearings are trashed.

Re: Oil Light Flashing (Surfwatch)
it could be several different things. whatever it is, it can cause serious engine damage in a split second (if it hasn't damaged it already).
if your adding that much oil and you don't see a huge puddle in your driveway, i would also suggest taking a look at the oil pickup screen. it's not too hard but it can be pretty messy.
the over heating could be a sign of a completely different problem, or it could be related. this is just one of those problems you need to get in there and start checkin things untill you find something that's not right.
