Oil light blinking, car wont pull past 4000 RPM.
Im posting about my 2001 Accord EX 2.3L vtec. Car starts well and runs well but idles a little low. When you start driving the car the oil light blinks and once it its 4000 it wont go past it, almost like your hitting a rev limiter ... This is my 5th accord and Ive never had a problem like this so im sketching out a little. An oil change was done on the car right before i bought it. Ive read through threads where the posts were similar problems but never found much useful info . im new to posting so please have a little patience with me here.. any and all help would be appreciated , THANKS!

The oil pan is perfect ... i took the vtec solenoid off and it wasnt moving very good i got it all freed up when i put it back together it didnt make a difference

You might want to do a compression test. If the oil light is legit you could have engine damage. If that checks out, you could try replacing the oil pressure switch which is really cheap or you can get an oil pressure gauge and see verify if the pressure is actually low.

Im taking it to my mechanic on thursday to check the oil pressure and see where to go from there. I changed the oil pressure switch and it didnt make a difference. Would there be any chance my car could be 'stuck' in limp mode? The engine runs well to the ear so im hopeful that its not damaged.
