Default Seeking help: 95 Accord EX 2.2 vtec headlamp/brake problems

Hey everyone, I surf these boards alot but Ive never posted before.

I love my honda's, I have 3. My first was a 03 Accord V6 Vtec sedan, then a few months ago I bought a 01 Civic sedan(es1) 1.7l non vtec. Then just this past friday I bought a 95 Accord EX coupe with the 2.2L vtec.

So far, this 95 accord has been giving me some problems.

It has 134399 miles on it... And I guess it wont be getting any more. I didnt notice that the odometer wasnt working when I bought the car, and the owner didnt bother to tell me it didnt work. I realized that the day after I bought the car, and I had it carfaxed to see when it died. It was less than 5 months ago when the odometer stopped, so im not really concerned about the milage being much more than what it is now. Id say its probably around 140K now.

That doesnt really bother me though. It runs perfect, gets great gas milage, and sounds just as good as any of the other cars ive ever owned.

The problems im concerned about most, just happened tonight.

I was on my way home from work, when out of nowhere, there was this high pitched noise coming from the outside of the car. No performance changes happened in the car, it didnt slow or speed up or any CEL lights come on. just a loud noise.

When I stop, it gets lower and lower, and it will stop if the car comes to a complete stop.

I can get back up to speed, and it wont do it again unless I hit a small bump in the road or something.

I went home and checked it out, jacked it up, and to my conclusion, the caliper has seized. When i try to spin the rear passenger side wheel, it doesnt spin freely. I have to put some force behind it to make it move, then when it does, it just spins maybe a 1/2 of a rotation then stops.

I lifted up the other side, and its fine. It spins freely and easily.

That leads me to this question.

How much is it going to cost me, and how long will it take to get it fixed?

I am taking it to a shop tomorrow morning, I would love to do it myself and learn how, but I am on a VERY tight schedule and I am supposed to be driving a 400 mile trip tomorrow, and this is hindering me from doing so.

That leads me to my next problem. I was installing a new CD player in my car tonight after i checkd out the problem with my brakes.

My headlights worked fine until after the install. I dont know what would have caused my passenger side light to go out. All I did was disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, and then i just did the normal to install a cd player, installed the harness, connected all the speaker wires and all, thats about it.

After reconnecting the battery, everything seemed to work fine, then when i tried turning my lights on, the passenger side low beam didnt work. I tried looking to see if i blew the bulb. Its not blown from looking from the outside of the lamp. I tried looking to see if I blew a fuse, I didnt. I dont know whats the problem.

Any help would be appreiciated.

Thanks.

You have a frozen slide on your caliper it sounds like. Sometimes it can be fixed and others it can't. I have about a 50/50 sucess rate of fixing them. Sometimes the grease coagulates and sometimes it will rust/ corrode in place. So at worst a new caliper and brake pads will be in order.
As far as the light it seems like a coincedence. Try switching the low beams from side to side to see if the drivers side doesn't work and the passenger does. A lot of times the bulb will be blown but just not look like it. If there is no change you may have another problem.
Good luck!
