oil leak location
Aight, I was changing my moms oil (93 accord lx, auto) and saw a lot of residue etc. So I cleaned it all up and found out where its leaking from. Its right above the oil filter, but also right above it is a hose that runs from one side of the head/block to the other so I cant see exactly where its coming from. It looks like a coolant hose but I'm a civic guy and mine dont have that hose so...and its definately not the valve cover leaking....
What is that hose? Coolant/oil?
And is the head gasket location right above the oil filter? I assume thats 1 similarity between F and D series...however there is no power loss, no collant missing, and no milky oil, which are all associated with the head gasket...
And on a random note when I added oil I looked in her filler hole and everything is a dark red, almost like AT fluid. My civic is dark brown and my ZC is silver(cleaned the head), is this normal? Many thanks!

Re: oil leak location (Stripped Honda)
Its definately not the valve cover...its completely clean, I can see the oil coming out from under the hose that runs right above the filter...thats why I need to know whether thats a coolant or oil line. Otherwise its got to be behind it. I've read on 96 accords the oil pressure sensor is right above the filter but didnt see such a thing on my moms.

Re: oil leak location (iam7head)
It's hard for me to say 100% what the line is without a pic, but I'm 99.9% certain it's a coolant line.
F series dont have the little oil cooler box like the B series do.

All of the hoses going into the manifold/head are coolant lines, I'm pretty sure there's no oil lines on a 93 Accord. So you're probably looking at a coolant leak. That's the area of the thermostat as well, so there's lots of coolant movement around there.

Re: oil leak location (StimpyBoy)
Well if its a coolant line then its got to be the head gasket...I find it very odd though to get oil coming from the headgasket but no milky oil, and no coolant loss. I took the valve cover off so like I said before its defiantely not coming from there. I'd have to take off the intake mani to see where its exactly coming from. I first thought it was the oil filter bc it comes from right behind it and down around the fliter. Yay...thanks for the help though.
