no start... need help
my buddy has a 91 accord ex that wont start. he bought a new distributor thinking it was that but still nothing. we checked for spark and noticed oil on the spark plugs so we cleaned them and we had spark but it still wont start. the fuel pump is working to so i really dont know exactly what else to check for. any help will be appreciated.

3 things to start an engine:
Spark
Fuel
Air
My guess you flooded the cylinders and now it won't start. Hold the gas under cranking, I know it sounds funny but it will keep fuel from getting in the cylinders (don't ask me how it works, it just does). Crank for 15 seconds at a time till it turns over. If this aint the problem, I'm lost

i'd say check the ignition switch, does the car start??? then turn off or not at all (does it turn over) if it does try turning the key to the start position, but don't let it fall abck, hold it turned half way between start and the on position, if it stays started, then its the ignition switch.
Next thing to check, spark plugs, pull one of the spark plugs, ground it check for spark, i changed my ignition coil, and its been great since. (check wires and plugs)
thats the info i got.....goodluck

the car turns over but doesnt start. we've checked the spark plugs for spark and we have that but when we pull them they are completely black( they are brand new plugs). so we cleaned them off and cranked it and when we pulled them again they were completely black again.

I thought it was next to impossible to 'flood' a fuel injected car...now a carb'd car I can see but injector flow is relative to rpm's and not always throttle position. All this is from my understanding and I could be wrong .
Have you checked for spark? Take out a plug and attach it its wire and ground the plug (hold it against the VC) and see if you get spark. If there is no spark I would say test your igntion coil within your distributor, unless its externally coiled then test that.

assuming you are getting fuel and spark ,,you are correct ???
if plugs look black is is a sign car is too rich ..
you could have a cylinder wash as well trying to start it
try this.. remove plugs, put a bit of atf fluid in cylinders, clean + reinstall plugs hold gas pedal all the way to floor and try starting ,,,,
if still wont start unplug TW sensor and try starting it ,,,,it will give you a code but you can easily clear it later ,,
,let me know if that helped
