NEWBIE
hey guys, im new to the whole honda scene..
i have a 5th gen automatic '95 honda accord 4door; its my DD and im trying to supe it up a bit as a lil project **me & my uncle will do most (not all) of the labor as he used to be a mechanic that owned a body shop & has all the tools necessary
its got an f22 in it so im pretty screwed there
what should i do to it & in what order ?
i was thinking...
1) engine swap to h22 w/ vtec (i need some sort of ecu right ?)
- engine + manual transimission, clutch, flywheel, half shaft, starter, ECU (computer)
2) lower it
3) new exhaust system
4) install short ram intake
..
5) turbo..eventually
how much would this cost would yall think ?
any idea's, criticism, advice is welcome

Re: NEWBIE
the swap done properly, will ring you about 2300-3000. If it was me I would go as follows
Jdm H22a
prelude transmission
p06 or p28 ecu, chipped
Aftermarket transmission and engine mounts
While you have the motor out of the car do the maintenance, plugs, wires, timing belt etc.
You will need a OBD2-OBD1 Jumper harness.

Re: NEWBIE
People have been modifying the CD chassis for over 15 years now. Everything you have asked has been covered in detail and has been archived in the FAQ section.
H22 swap step by step
Detailed information on suspention and lowering springs
Exhaust systems and SRI discussions are everywhere
Forced induction forum has a lot of information covering boosting
If you are looking to boost in the future, I would suggest avoiding the H22 swap. Your F22 is a good starting point for boost. If you are looking for major power both blocks would require the same work anyway. Cheaper to go with what you already have in this case.
Now if your looking to go naturally aspirated the H22A swap is the going trend!

I have done swaps in 14 hours. I take my time and enjoy working out in the garage. I usually have a few people stop buy and have a few pops when doing swaps. I'm sure there are people who can do it faster.

Re: NEWBIE
just what ive always heard. its an old, low hp, non vtec engine
and i want vtec because of two reasons one is it gives the power of an aggresive cam at higher rpm's and two is because of the name, i wanna be able to say "yah i got vtec" i know that may sound childish or shallow but ive wanted to be able to say that since i was very young

Re: NEWBIE
What are your goals for your car?
If all you are doing is driving around town showing of your VTEC. Might as well just boost an F23A5 or an F22B1. They are VTEC and you will be in VTEC more driving around town with a boosted F than an H22.
There are a few N/A 250-300+whp F series builds out there. And a shyte load of 300+whp boosted F22/F23's with and without VTEC.

Re: NEWBIE
Ghost Accord has a awesome build going on. Also f22's love boost, some of the highest forced induction numbers have came from this platform (Honda). H22's are a good motor, but have faults. Building one for all motor or boost is pricey. Ever give the F20B a look?

Get one of these with a conversion harness and you'll be set. Phearable makes some kick *** products and they have a great reputation with their ECU's. You should still get a dyno tune after the turbo is installed though.
What sort of turbo kit did you buy? If it is an eBay one throw the turbo charger right in the trash, although if you're talking about GReddy stuff and you know your engine code you probably already know that. I would also invest in a quality wastegate, considering that is what is going to limit your setup at 8psi.
