Default NEW STEREO HOOKUP - ILLUMINATION WIRES - HELP - 2000 ACCORD LX

I swapped out the stereo on 2000 Accord LX, the new stereo has no recepticals for the red/black and red illumination wires that went into the old unit.

I do not know what to do with the red/black and red illumination wires [they are now tied together; i have also separated them], and I cannot get my interior illumination lights [dash, gear indicators, interior switches] to work.

Does this make sense? Can I attach them somewhere to fix problem? Do they just need to be grounded?

Did you not get a wire adapter that plugs into the factory wires and then to your stereo harness?

Oh and no... do not ground them by all means.

Well, I must respond.

It is true, I did not get a wire adapter that plugs into the factory wires and then to your stereo harness. Perhaps this would have been easeir. Noob mistake.

And yes, I have blown a number of fuses throughout this ordeal, but a blown fuse was not the problem here.

HOWEVER, I did attach the Illumination wire to the GROUNDING wire, and all is fine now, other than being to dim the illumination.

Of course, the remaining problem is undoubtedly due to the fact that the other wire, the Illumination Dimmer wire, is still unattached.

I can live with no dimmer.

Thanks All.

It was a SONY, but again, problem substantially solved.

Which Sony?

A couple months ago I put the GT410U into my '95 Toyota Camry. It's a great unit for the money and I absolutely love the USB Port in front.
