mysterious oil light on 1997 honda accord
I have a 1997 Honda accord 2.2 l special edition and my oil light blinks while driving in cold weather. Like Canadian-29 weather. I start the car in the morning and nothing I get to my first stop light and the oil light comes on solid red then the rest of the way to work it continues to blink. Checked oil level and its fine. Then when I leave work -11 weather the light is gone not seen again till morning. Does anybody know what this could be or has had this problem before?

Re: mysterious oil light on 1997 honda accord
I just replaced the part with the OEM from Honda 5 months ago. What a pain that was. Then my light was always solid when driving only flashing at idle but this has never happened today wasn't that cold and didn't see the light at all. Do you think it could the wiring being to cold or something ? Getting a voltmeter up there's going to be hard.

What grade of oil are you using?
If it's normally 30 below that is the max for 5W-** oils, you may want to look into a 0W oil for better lubrication when it is cold out. Like a 0W-20 if it is available.

the oil sensor you replaced could be defective all the same. i second the switch in oil viscosity, -29 is damn harsh. or get an aftermarket block heater if you dont already have one. good luck.
