Default is my mechanic screwing with me?

I just bought a 94 honda accord lx for 700 bucks last december from a friend and i already knew there were some issues with it but my friend assured me it was maybe 2 or 3 things. Everythings going fine until i stop at a stop sign one day and the car not only cuts off but all the controls lock (brakes, steering and gas) I restart it and force my way back to my house. My uncle comes over and claims its a fuel pump so he changes it for me. a few days later it does the exact same thing this time with a ton of gas leaking from it. Uncle comes back and fixes the gas prob but tells me i oughta go to a mechanic. I go to these asian people since no one else could figure it out. All in all they made me replace the distributor, spark plugs and fuel relay. 2 days after it gets out of the shop the exact same thing happens. Now the asians are saying its PROBABLY the computer system and thatll run me 350 bucks. im far from a professional but something tells me this is a simple cheap problem to fix. Any ideas??

You gotta be more specific as to what's happening than "Everythings going fine until i stop at a stop sign one day and the car not only cuts off but all the controls lock (brakes, steering and gas)". The more specific the better advice you can get or we will be guessing as it appears your new mechanics are doing even though they have full access to your car to diagnose. For example, I can't tell what (brakes, steering and gas) means. Brakes can lock. Steering wheels can lock, but gas can't.

If, when the car dies, the dash lights also go out, that could indicate a bad ignition switch. This is fairly easy to replace, but you can diagnose it yourself using information found here....

Sounds like the people you are going to are what I call "guess and pray" mechanics. Like above said, give us some more description of what's really happening.

hmmm.....when i try to start my car it starts but then 2 sec later the engine cuts off. Radio lights wipers all that still works. Each time Ive brought it back from the shop it would run for a few days and when I dont drive it all day this happens. Noe of the dash lights light up when I crank it.

Since you don't want to test the ignition switch, just replace it and see what happens.

Are you 100% certain they replaced the main relay ? Do you have a receipt ? Or did you replace it yourself ?

Yeah I have receipts for all this stuff. I asked if they could print the diagnostic test for me but she said that was against their policy which should have tipped me off earlier. But i dont really care whats up with them right now i just want my car running.

How do I test it? I did that trick where i kept in on the start position and it did cut off when my key snapped back......is that enought to go on?

Sounds like it. If it's old, then it probably needs to be replaced anyhow, assuming it's not actually the culprit. They are extremely easy to replace, but first thing you need to do is to remove the negative battery terminal. Then remove the lower steering cover. Then I think you need to remove the lower dash cover. Then it's two 8mm size bolts I believe or maybe a 6mm. Then remove the connector and put the new one in and reinstall.
