Default My girlfriends "new" CD5 Build Thread

Eh, I was deciding if I wanted to actually take the time to post this along with my CD7 and OZ Rally build logs. In a sad turn of events my girlfriends 89 Civic DX Hatchback was stolen from her work (Micheal's crafts) a few weeks ago in broad daylight. The bastards ditched a clean clean DC2 and snatched her rusty, ran on three cylinders, piece of junk BUT none the less it was a car with wheels and it drove her around. She starts college in three weeks, works (obviously), and just got her license.

That thread can be found here.

Onto the car itself. Its a 1994 CD5 Accord LX with the non-VTEC F22B2 motor equipped with the standard 4spd automatic transmission. The exterior is quite rough with minimal rust, BUT the interior after being scrubbed, steam cleaned, and then reassembled and wiped down is immaculate. The motor also runs like a top and gets absolutely great gas mileage for having 258,000 on it.

So far maintenance wise I've: Bled brakes, Fuel filter, Air filter, Valve cover seals, PCV, Sea foam, Injector cleaner, Engine flush, Oil/filter, Cleaned the bay/interior, fixed the hood latch, wet sanded all front lights/polished.

Planning on porting and polishing my leftover F22Bx manifold that I have leftover from my upgrade on my CD7, doing a manual conversion once the auto craps out, full exhaust, tune, and fixing the body damage. A new hood, fender, rear trim, trunk, and alloys will all be picked up tomorrow along with the rest of my long list of small parts.

Apparently what my girlfriend thinks haha

First thing to do was the oil. Stupid FRAM junk took me 15 minutes to get off.

Then I took out the seats, steam cleaned, and cleaned the interior panels.

Then cleaned the seats.

This is the first car I've ever worked on with an aftermarket radio that has been wired properly. Saves me time and money from not having to fix it.

Polished the headlights/signals.

UGLY hub caps that were on it.

Then the previous owners decided to replace the entire exhaust BUT with a Wagon muffler...

So I'll be picking up a new trim and a sweet twin tip stainless exhaust that is currently sitting on an MX6 at the junk yard.

AWWW, that's bust.
They must have seen the sweet new gas tankf, and you know black hoods = racecar.

That's going to be a bit of a wait at only 158K.
Dumped some SeaFoam Trans Tune into the '95 and it shifts so much better. 3-4 shift was becoming meh. Was going to pull the shift solenoids and then I just did this instead. Even put some in the PS as the rack was starting to feel a bit stiff, good stuff. Much-Mo-Betta.

May I suggest you black out/blurr/remove the license plate images. Might be some thieving trolls around, ya never know.

The wagon muffler is a nice touch.

Tell me about it.. lol But the rest of the exhaust is fairly new with minimal rust and fits perfectly. Guess they must have no known the difference, too bad they destroyed the trim.

Great a coffin on wheels.

My 2 brothers almost died last night on there way home because they swerved to avoid a deer. Damn thing spun 2 or 3 times then flipped completely over at least 1 time. They are okay though one hit his head on the glass pretty hard.

I would have pics for you guys but they towed the car before I could take them. The car (an 04' Camry) is completely totalled. My brother who was driving wanted to blame it all on the car saying the traction control didn't come on and the air bags didn't even deploy... But that's just an excuse cause you're never supposed to swerve to avoid a deer, he told me this himself. He just doesn't wanna admit he messed up baaaad.

What does this have to do with an Accord?
Drunk posting?

...it's not for everyone.

I was going to say, what in the hell does this old Accord have anything to do with anything to do with what he said. Don't get too wasted now.

I'm liking that blue, quite alot. You should make your girlfriends car faster than your own just because you can. :p

Also mishako, put away the grass and shine.

Maybe that's why he always thinks his car doesn't look that bad, heck it would explain his excessive question asking. I do like the color as well, regardless the paint will be redone. Debating flat black because its cheap, but the blue is a cool color. It won't ever be faster than mine, then it wouldn't be any fun!

Picked up a new fender and a few other little things today at the junk yard. It appears that a mouse managed to have a rave inside the ducting so I'll be draining, disassembling, and cleaning the entire duct system and recharging the AC at my work. I got a new job at a body shop about a month ago for anyone that's interested. Both of the blower resistors I grabbed were shot and one of them even started smoking. I wasn't able to find a drivers door interior door handle in blue, and I wasn't able to find an antenna which are crucial parts to this car being road worthy. I've had to drain the trunk already from rain entering the hole from the antenna. Once my girlfriend gets the money I'll be replacing the hood and trunk, then with leftover paint/body filler/primer from my work I'll be painting it flat black with a lip kit and lowered on springs. Someone must have snatched up that sweet twin tip muffler yesterday so I'll be going with a plan I've had brewing with some stainless I have laying around, pics tomorrow of that.

Then when I had the bumper off, I found this little guy chilling in the bumper support. Surprised he held on during the one hour drive up north lol.

So considering the car has a basically brand new full exhaust (OEM spec 2") but the Wagon muffler I decided to cut the aweful bend off of it and install this. The trim was butchered from the incorrect muffler being used, said trim will be replaced and a PROPER clearance "hole" will be cut out of the new trim. It will look professional and clean unlike it does currently.

I have a couple of these, maybe I can fab up some of those sweet body extensions! Make a few spoilers, side skirts, then paint it a multitude of colors. Woo Japanese silhouette Accord!

IT DOESN'T LOOK BAD. NEW TRIM LOWERED PAINT AND WHEELS AND IT WILL LOOK GOOD. Ha!

In all honestly it could have turned out a LOT worse, although my stainless/mild steel welds weren't the greatest as expected. lol I still want to stick a P at the end of the license plate..

Then my buddy and I were bored so we took her out back.. lol

You know it! lol I want to do an aluminum diffuser/undertray on my Accord once its off the road as a daily. Rad it shall be, on the Accord shall it reside.

I drained the AC at my work the other day, pulled the evaporator and found a ~2" layer of fuzz, sticks, leaves, and twigs that some mouse must have decided to put in there. I'm surprised you could even FEEL cold air, it was horrid. Vacuumed that out, hosed it out, and then blew it out with the air gun. Now we're waiting to get it rechared and a new blower resistor installed for mad comfort gains!

While I was doing this my dad and I were BS'ing about his dream career of being a car painter/body work specialist before he went into the military, and we started talking about actually doing some body work on the car. He walks away for a moment and whips out a Satajet spray gun with less than a can ran through it. I'M JELLY, looks like I'll be painting this car after all! Well, with body filler, walmart primer, and walmart black paint of course. But still, she will look TONS better; heck half the blue is turned light blue due to rust.. Hopefully I can make some progress here soon. Then I can have my Accord PROFESSIONALLY fixed and painted ;D
