I am sticking with the stock f22b1 head cause after the research i did it says the flow on the #POA head is one of the better you can get!! So I just decided to port and polish it with a 3 angle valve job, also resurfaced but not to much so I dont higher my compression and I am gettin Bisimoto PRO Valve Springs with the BISI 1.2Turbo camshaft and the Cam.

ASHb82, (the guy Im following for this build) has got his to 9k at the track he said. So I should have no problem at all goin to 7-7500k!! Im building this project to handle way more power then im runnin it on a daily basis just in case I want to hit those higher numbers!!! ;-) Rather Be safe then Sorry!!

In reality though i only really plan to take it to maybe 6-6500k rpms cause I really dont thin it will make power past that point!

What heads were you comparing the P0A too for flow? The P0B or all F series / H series heads. I'm sure the P0A, with a port & valve job, will flow more than enough for a boosted setup. I am very interested in seeing the flow sheets for the P0A.

The P0A head flows pretty well from my experiene with it and should be able to get you to your goal hp without any work. Made 335whp years ago on a completely bone stock f22b1 motor with f22b1 (P0A) head. Turbo setup was custom setup made/ pieced together but nothing exotic.

For 300whp I would not worry about the head... I probably would put my money elsewhere. Even down the road (wanting 100+ more hp) at the point you might want to start considering headwork, there is the tiny plenum long runner b1 intake holding you back to address first.

ETA: Still on an f22b1 head although now it is not a stock port anymore... last time it was on a dyno for tuning I made 613whp but that has been a while ago now. Looking to up that a bit more before the year is over. I have faith in the b1 head.

Cool thread. I just bought an F22B1 sohc Vtec engine out of a 94 Accord for $150. Seems to be in good overall condition, but I still want to do a full rebuild. Searching the site to see what others are doing/have done with theirs. (Plan to drop mine into an EG Civic when completed for something a little different). Keep us posted on your progress, Sir!

I saw a post on here few months ago comparing all F series heads and the flow sheet for the stock POA compared to the other F series heads was the best! I started doin some research on it and found that the POA was the best way to go for a stock head and a turbo setup!!

Those are some serious numbers!! I like to hear that! Ive done my research for awhile now and find more ppl running just bone stock F series heads cause they hold up so well! AS for intake manifold, I hope to get a bigger one after I drop my engine in and get it runnin proper. Still a few lil things here and there I need.

Yeah I saw that flow sheet as well. It had the F22A F23A and the F22B1. The F23 actually flowed the best and the F22B1 had less intake flow, the exhaust was the only part of the F22B1 head that kept up to ether of the other F series heads. However for a boosted build in the 300-400 range an F22B1 will work.

Yea It was somethin like that! The one I was reading just said cylinder head type: POA, POB, POJ, PAA and PT3 I believe.. So same as what your sayin. The PT3 however is 88-91 so I didnt read anything about it really.

IM Looking for a Full Breakdown diagram or picture sheet of the F22b1 head, do you know where I can find one by chance??. Im missing a few little pieces on the rocker arm setup and cant find anything that shows a pic of it. i found a few pics but didnt show me enough.

PT3 is the casting number for the 90-93 F22A* heads. These are the easiest F series heads to get 320+ CFM out of. Aside form the F20C/F22C. Not that you need that much for a boosted build though.

PT3 - 90-93 OBD1 F22A1, A4 & A6
P0A - 94-95 OBD1 F22B1 VTEC
P0B - 94-97 OBD1 & OBD2a F22B2 Non VTEC
P0H/P0J - 96-97 OBD2a F22B1 VTEC
PAA - 98-02 OBD2b F23A1 VTEC

Here are a few images that I was able to scrounge up for the B1 rocker assembly;

Its taken so long cause Ive had to work a lot in between. All the time will be worth it though!!

I got 214k on my motor right now. I drive a 97 acura cl and I'm going to run it until it dies and then build my motor. Where should I get started? I want to start piecing together some parts for when the time comes.

I'm going for turbo and want to build internals. At least 300 hp going to be a daily driver. I figure ill get at least another 6 months out of the car no problem. So ill do it in the near future. I work at a car dealership, I'm friends with a bunch of mechanics that are willing to help. When it comes to internals I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't want to see this thread die off.

Well I would suggest starting by making a list of all the parts you want and need and see how much money you ahve then go from there!! I started by buying an old F22bi block and stripping it down to bare bones then takin it to my machinist!! Its pretty lookin now ;-)

Awesome build!! I have been working on a similar build. Not trying to threadjack here. Short version. Car stolen, car found, auto tranny went tragic, 5 speed swap. Which led to an ongoing wire tuck, no ps, no abs, hand ported(by me), 3 angle valve job and milled true, block cleaned and honed, new rings and bearings. These engines have soooo much potential. Can't wait for a group of us to form off of this!!
