Mobil 1 Transmission Fluid
Hi folks,
1992 Honda Accord, automatic. Transmission has been regularly serviced, but I live in a mountainous region where conditions are probably pretty harsh on ATF.
What's the best fluid to use here? I know M1 has some good heat dissipation properties, and was wondering what fluid to use when I drain the pan - generic ATF, M1 synthetic, or Honda fluid?
Thanks!
Ari

OEM Honda
I've tried valvoline maxlife, which said on the bottle is suitable for for Hondas requiring ATF-Z1 and it shifted real hard and harsh into every gear. switched back to OEM Honda and it was a night and day difference, instantly smoother. and you shouldnt have to worry about OEM ATF not standing upto to harsh conditions, Honda engineered there cars, parts, and fluids to withstand being daily driven in extreme cold and hot climates and everything in between.

Re: (FunnyVictor86)
use the honda atf. back in the old days before all this new stuff, honda trannies did use motor oil. but what they do now is geared for the tranny so use the newer stuff with the additives for the tranny.

Re: Mobil 1 Transmission Fluid
I have a 90 Honda Prelude. It was leaking transmission fluid and not knowing, I put whatever the local auto parts store sold me which was always the cheapest stuff on the shelf. The transmission would shift really hard after that and then in no time it started slipping one day. The same day it started making a grinding noise like something broke inside the case. I havent driven it since. Do I need a new tranny or can I just put the right fluid and hope it corrects it? Im thinking its to late, huh?
