little bubbles inside the p/s fluid container
what does this indicate? im assuming its bad because i THINK i read it somewhere. how can i remove them? also the car was really low on p/s fluid so i put in a new bottle of fluid last night. i first emptied half the bottle, but someone added the rest of the bottle later on that night cause i left between the max level. so when they filled it,at first it seemed alright. the level was sitting exactly at max. but today when i checked under the hood before driving anywhere i noticed it overflowed. it came out from beneath the cap. so i got the p/s fluid on my engine bay AGAIN! WTF MAN! luckily i didnt drive anywhere so the fluid was only on and around the container itself. so i wiped it down and just let her sit in her parking spot. now i will go out again in a few hours to check and see if t heres more fluid flooding out.
the reason why i first added HALF was because of this happening. i was scared that p/s fluid was being transfered back and forth so i wanted to leave room for it to return. now is this the case? well for now help me deal with the little suds/bubbles in the container.
-help me with the suds
-help address this overflowing problem. was i right to begin with?
-also i noticed the p/s fluid is dark brown. is it time to flush?

your getting air in the system. check the hose that goes from the pump to the reservior. they can get a pin hole in them. the problem is that they dont leak because they are sucking in. if you have a hand pump adapt it to the top of the reservior and put a small amount of pressure on it and see if it leaks. it could be a leak at the the pump also. either way it should show up.

The little tiny bubbles will clear themselves out as the system purges itself of air (from being low previously)

I suspect the "Fantom Helper" that continued to fill the p/s reservoir filled it with the engine running.
Unlike engine coolant, which is checked hot / engine running; the p/s is checked with the engine off. That's because the system tends to draw down the level in the tank while running (and equalizes when shut off), ideally raising and lowering the level b'tween the two marks.
The short of it? It was overfilled while running and belched out the excess once shut off.

If it's sucking air in somewhere, then maybe you filled it when it was settled down. When you started the engine it sucked in some air, whipped the fluid into a froth, which take up more space. That made it overflow even without some mystery helper adding fluid. Could that be possible?

phantom helper lol
nah its a friend who usually tampers with his car. he just kept saying 'trust me'. after i added the fluid i did turn the car on though, maybe it was my fault. but yeah he did add the remaining fluid in while she was on. i just hope it isnt a leak/hole in the hose/or a busted p/s pump. i read here on HT a busted pump will force the p/s fluid out through the cap. did the search last night

On mine, there's a fine screen down inside the PS reservoir, towards the bottom. If that's dirty, it should make it more likely to suck air or collapse the pump suction hose. Then it's dumping fluid into the top of the reservoir without taking out from the bottom. Check that out??
