LED Load resistor accord 02 lx sedan
I'm new at cars and my regular brake light bulb burnt out recently so i bought some LED brake lights 7440/7443 from the internet and i installed it on the brake lights. It works but the brake lamp (light bulb is burnt out warning light) is still on. I searched up on the internet and it says some cars need a LED Load resistor and i don't know which one to use. Can anyone help? Thanks

RL-650 Tail Light Load Resistor kit
6 Ohm, 50 Watt load resistor kit
Solves most LED turn signal problems
Connect one across each LED turn signal bulb to simulate filament Tail/Turn signal bulbs
RL-2525 Marker Lamp Load Resistor
25 Ohm, 25 Watt load resistor kit for mini wedge base bulbs
Connect one across each LED marker light to resolve bulb-out warning indicator problems
I dont know whats OHM. Which one do i get, the second one? And thanks for your help

I don't know what their prices are but those are probably fairly easily found an any electronics shop for much cheaper.
Example? The resistor I used for my SRS light was like $2 from a local shop vs the $20 or so online from vendors for "srs fix"

Re: LED Load resistor accord 02 lx sedan
Even if i do get the load resistors. How do i install them? I have 3 wires connected to the socket and i don't know which one is positive or negative wire.

Re: LED Load resistor accord 02 lx sedan
So i can install it on any of the 3 wires? What happens if i install it wrong? And the pdf example looks like you need to cut the wires, or you dont? Thanks for helping

Re: LED Load resistor accord 02 lx sedan
Since the LED brake light bulbs doesn't draw (use) that much current, your dash warning light comes on, as it thinks it detects the regular bulb not working (i.e., using the normal current). The load resistor draws as much current as what would have been your original regular bulb to simulate the original bulb current draw. (Conversely, the led brake bulb you have probably has a resistor to limit current to protect the LEDS from burning out due to too much current.)
In the pdf example, it states to "not cut" the vehicle wires.

Yes. Also, you can also pick up additional splice tap connectors at Walmart, Home Depot, etc. But, if you remove them, I recommend wrapping some electrical tape around the exposed wire. You probably could also re-use the splice tap connector.

Re: LED Load resistor accord 02 lx sedan
If i installed the resistor, where can i put the resistor on? Because it gets hot or something and i can't put it on plastic or near the wires. And I forgot to ask, do i need one for the high mount (3rd) brake light.

Re: LED Load resistor accord 02 lx sedan
You don't need to solder if you buy the kit with the splice tap connectors. Just mount the load resistor with a screw or something to a metal area away from anything that can melt/burn.
This guy mounted it in a metal cavity area.

If you buy the kit from superbrightleds, it appears to come with the load resistors, wire, and splice tap connector, which is simpler.
You only need to solder if you went to buy a load resistor separately, for example from an electric part shop, without the kit.

Re: LED Load resistor accord 02 lx sedan
Hello,
I have LED brake lights installed on my 2000 Accord EX and when I press the brake pedal, the little rear brake lights comes on in the instrument cluster and stays on. I have heard this happens because the computer thinks the rear brake light bulb is out because the LED's use much less of a load. I installed 25W resistors on the black and red wires and the light still comes on. There is also a green wire. Any ideas how to properly connect the resistors or how to make the rear brake lights stop coming on when I press the brakes?

I had the same problem and just fixed it. You need to buy two LED load resistors from any car lighting place, or you can buy them from eBay. They look like this:
You then need to connect one wire coming from the resistor to the black wire plugged into your LED light and the other wire from the resistor connected to the green wire plugged into your LED light. See diagram below:
Make sure you keep the resistor away from plastic or other wires as they get very hot. I screwed mine into the metal surrounding the brake light housing.
