Jerk while accelerating.

Jerk while accelerating.
I have a 2002 Honda Accord. I bought it recently and it came with a 3 month warranty. My car jerks a bit while accelerating. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem. The carfax is pretty clean and is pretty well maintained.

Re: Jerk while accelerating.
i have the same problem and have posted this problem a couple times with no solutions. the only recomendation i got was that the EGR might be dirty or have a leak. My Honda has done this for years. Had it at the shop a couple times and with no errors they tell me nothing.
So i just deal with it because when i got the car it had 30k miles and now i am at 150k and have only realy done minimal maintenance.

Re: Jerk while accelerating.
Do the RPMs drop when it jerks or is it more of a transmission slip? Manual or automatic?
Is all of the regular maintenance up to par? I.E. spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap & rotor. Air filter and oil change? When were the timing belts last replaced and the valves adjusted?
Don't assume that the place you bought it from did all of this before you bought it. Verify that it has been done and then go from there.

Re: Jerk while accelerating.
The RPM drops while accelerating. It is an automatic transmission. The car has 82K miles on it and the previous owner changed the timing belt. The last routine maintenance was done in May and the next one is scheduled to be in November.
I have asked this to some of my co-workers and they said it might be because of the big engine which takes more power.

Re: Jerk while accelerating.
Can you better describe the jerking? Is it speed or rpm related?
Is it a stumble around cruise speed or only under acceleration and it doesn't matter what rpm.
Is there a check engine light? Does the Check Engine Light come on when you turn the key to II(on) before starting? Have you used an OBDII scanner to check for any codes?
With the OBDII system if there is a stumble/misfire the system will pickup on the problem and should post a code.
Engine size does not matter in regards to running condition of an otherwise stock car. It should run smooth and have power, no jerking or stumbling.

This could also be due to the oxygen sensor needing replacing. Unfortunately it won't always throw a code.
If you haven't already ever replaced it, it would be good maintenance to change it out even if it doesn't solve the problem it will be good. Make sure to go Denso.
