jdm h22a swap problem
i swapped out my old h22a4 motor and put in a jdm h22a motor. the new motor won't start after the swap. the h22a4 had a crankshaft position sensor that i did not connect because the jdm motor did not have a crankshaft position sensor. is the crankshaft position sensor inside the distributor for the jdm h22a?

Re: jdm h22a swap problem
You need to wire the 4 OBD2 CKP & TDC wires that go down to the back of the engine up to the Distributor. I know how to do it via wire splicing but there could be an easier way. I thought I remember reading the H23 dizzy works out easier. Check the prelude forum for JDM engine swap info. I'm sure your not the first....
If you can't find anything in there I can send you a wire diagram of what wires go where.

Yes don't forget about the TDC wires as well. The OBD2 system has hte TDC & CKP mounted to the oil pump housing. There are 4 wires that need to be spliced/connected to the distributor.
I would use butt connectors or some sort of non permanent, weather proof Automotive connector if you can.
Tyco Electronics
Or you could use the connector off your old CKP/TDC sensor. If you still have it. Cut the connector end off the sensor side (attached to the engine) and splice it into the distributor wiring.

Re: jdm h22a swap problem
It should be wired as per the wire colours shown in the diagram above. I have drawn in the OBD2 engine harness wires and connected them to the wire they are connected to in the distributor.

Re: jdm h22a swap problem
FYI: the OBD2 harness does not match up (plugs) with the OBD1 dizzy the best way to do is to take ur obd2 harness and get a obd1 h22 harness or h23 and mate the harnesses its a pain in the *** and pretty tricky but is the most reliable way to do and easiest the harnesses are just too different..... not 100% but pretty sure if you do this (correctly) you will not have to use obd2 to obd1 conversion harness nor obd1 ecu... if anyone needs help with this **** just message
