New to the forum! Help! When I turn the key nothing happens?
Hello I have recently received my girlfriend's stepfathers 96 Accord. It is bone stock with 170xxx miles on it. It has leather seats, power seats sunroof and a v6. It is automatic and was running.
Recently when it was non running, someone decided to smash the window and try to steal it. The ignition switch(white ball) was pulled out and tempered with. The ignition mechinism itself is in fine shape but the switch was pretty beat. I have searched and people said that when they turn the key that nothing happens, no fuel pump priming, cluster lights dont work, car doesnt crank, etc. I have had all those problems. They say changing the ignition switch fixed their problems. I changed mine and it still didnt work? no crank no dash lights nothing. The door lights, door ding sound, ignition key light, headlights, brake lights, emergency lights work but nothing else? no windows either. Before they tried to steal the car the car would crank but now that they attempted to it has not. I was planning on trying to get the car running, and selling it but this problem is holding me back from even cranking the motor and seeing the problems. I cant find any cut wires or unplugged switches or anything. If anyone has had this problem and fixed it please let me know if you solved it and what you did!
As for the engine, He said that it was smoking a lot but continued to drive it. It didnt tick, bog, or do anything strange just smoked alot of white smoke. He was going to leave to work one day and it just wouldnt catch. It just kept turning over. and thats what it did before the people tried to steal it. I was going to check the fuel pump, injectors, distributor, spark plugs, starter, battery, spark plug wires, anything else I have missed? But if the car isnt turning over I wouldnt know if I fixed it or not. thank you!
Also this is my first accord. I have had a 94 jdm front integra, 04 rsx that I have built by myself. I am also currently building a k20z1 ek.

Make sure the ignition switch is hooked up right. Someone probably yanked it out and one of the wires probably came off. Does the dash lights come on when u turn the key?
