Id like to check the timing, but I cant! No timing marks! Pictures included
I have a 95 Honda Accord LX with the f22b2 motor. I've been having a studdering problem and a rev limiter at 4k RPM?!
I've been trying to get the basics out the way.
So far i've done:
-Spark plugs
-Cap
-Rotor
-Checked Spark plug wires (within check)
-Checked Coil (.01 out of range, I doubt thats the problem)
Now its time to check the timing. But wait! I don't have the timing belt cover, that has the timing marks on it!
How do I check the timing now.
Ill make this in bold since I know most people skim through these threads I bought the car with the new timing belt already installed

On the lefthand side of the header, on the block jus above the block code number should be a rubber plug, remove it, the timing marks are in there and are on the flywheel with the timing light hooked up and the car running point it that and the arrow will be pointing at 15 degrees btc and if that is so, the timing is right on

That's where he is talking about. It's there on my F22a6, but not there on either my F22B1 or F22B2. You could pull the #1 plug and put long extension down the plug tube and rotate the engine counter clockwise until the extension does not raise any more and see if the timing mark on the cam sprocket is "up". That will tell you if it is close.

You may have a 96/97 B2 in there. I that's when they stopped with the access hole and moved the timing marks to the crank pulley. Are you trying to check ignition timing? Or cam timing? Easiest way to check cam timing without the marks is to remove the #1 spark plug, stick a long extension into the hole, then rotate the crank until the extension (piston) stops moving up. Then you can match that to the cam gear "UP" position (or dowel hole in the cam itself)

There are timing marks on the camshaft pulley, not certain why you need the plastic cover to check your timing.
Since the car start your timing belt was installed properly. If you wish to adjust your timing loosen the distributor and either advance or retard your timing to proper spec.

Im wanting to check ignition timing.
kidcool1977. On these particular motors the timing marks are on the plastic cover. So I cant adjust it using the crank pulley.
I am assuming the cam timing is correct since the car starts right up and drives normally other then the problem im having in the original post.

make sure you bridge your ECU when you figure it out, otherwise the ECU will just set it back to its original setting.

Let me see if I can explain this better.
The plastic cover on the CD5's have the timing marks for adjusting ignition timing. Something like "14,16,18 btdc"
I don't have that cover on my car... Is there another way I can check ignition timing?

Under your glove box is a blue connector use paperclip to short it this will activate the check engine light, from there use your timing light to check timing.
here's the connector you will need, insert a paper clip in it to short it or use the scs short connector (I doubt u have it)
once you do that the check engine light will stay solid, from there check your ignition timing. IF the timing is off, loosen your distributor bolts and put to spec.
all this is being done while you have the timing light aimed at the crank pulley. Hope this makes sense.

I'm not sure what the hell is going on in here, massive trolling of a member?
GoodSpeed150 on these years of Accord, there is no way to check the ignition timing without belt covers. Furthermore the cam, waterpump and balance shaft belts should be covered. All that grease and road grime is just going to destroy the belts. go down to your local Honda parts department, and order up the Lower cover, the Upper cover(no need to buy the rubber gaskets the covers come with them), and the little rubber washer that goes around the tensioner stud nut AFTER the covers are installed. I take it since the covers are missing you will also need to purchase the missing bolts for said covers. It appears you are also missing a tensioner spring, but its hard to tell in the photo.
To install the cover you will have to remove PS/AC/Alt belts and remove the harmonic balancer. You will not have to reset the tension for the cam/balance belts, but if they have been run for any length of time with that much crud and grime, they are probably already compromised.

GoodSpeed150 here are the part numbers and quantities you will need.
11810-P0A-000 001 001 COVER, TIMING BELT (LOWER)
11820-P0B-A00 003 001 COVER, TIMING BELT (UPPER)
11830-P0B-A01 004 001 COVER, TIMING BELT (UPPER BACK)
(It's hard to tell from your pictures if this cover is missing on your car)
90401-PT0-000 025 001 RUBBER, TIMING BELT ADJUSTER
(This rubber washer sits in the groove on that adjuster nut, after the cover is installed.)
90007-679-000 019 009 BOLT A, TIMING BELT COVER
Self explanatory, belt cover bolts, and you need nine.
You can only loosen the belts if you remove the tensioners. Removing the balancer will not upset the belts. Verify the crank and cam are indeed in phase.
