Icon2 I tried everything! helllppp...!!!

ok so im new to the forums i usually fix my cars with no problems but i find this forum helpful nd i ran into a little problem with my car im having trouble figuring out and could use some help! i did also post this in transmissions and drivetrains but nothing yet so i figured i would try here too, hope im not going about these forums wrong if so feel free to correct me constructive critcism is always accepted!
anyway on to my problem! i have a 96 accord wagon lx about 152 k about a yr ago my check engine light came on and the d4 started blinking at the same time so i got the code checked it came back p0720 (countershaft speed sensor circuit) so although the car runs and shifts fine nd speedo still works i wanted my light out so i grabed a sensor from junkyard put it in and light bak on,same code! so then i thought i got a bad one i took one from my friends car who had no check engine light, same thing light with same code! so after that i got the other two speed sensors and replaced them just to check, same thing cel and same code! so then i checked the wires no break in harness nd plugs are clean and in tact! after that i thought maybe tcu(trans computer) was bad well considering my car is 96 tcu is built into ecu so i replaced the ecu i took one from a 97 accord lx non vtec auto my computer said jl8 and one i put in said jl5 but computer worked fine and no new codes but still had the darn p0720 code so i got so fed up that although my tranny worked fine i grabbed another trans with all 3 speed sensors in it and put it in my car drove about 3 miles and boom dam cel light and same code p0720! uggghhh i wouldnt care cause car drives fine but i have to pass emmisons this month and need my cel off can anyone help please...????!!!!!

get your factory service manual out and follow the procedure to test the countershaft speed sensor circuit is where i would start.
it probably has the specs for the sensor to test and make surew it is good, and will also tell you what wires to test continuity on between the sensor and ecu, and so on.

you mean the owners manual that came with the car or like a chilton or haynes repair manual?
