The labor rate varies alot by where you are in the country, what kind of technician is working on the car (just an oil change or a timing belt change etc) and what kind of shop it is, a real dealership or a mom and pop garage.

If I were to go to Honda or some other shop for a valve adjustment and to have my brakes bled, how much would I expect to pay?
They don't seem to like quoting prices over the phone.

call and ask for their labor rates. should be about 2 hrs of labor, and less than $50 of parts if they replace the valve cover gasket.
OR
just diy, those 2 are pretty easy.

i kno where i bring my honda to (Neighborhood Garage) up here in Sacramento, its $65 an hour...maybe $75....i ferget. anywayz, they seem to do quality work, they only do hondas/acuras too, so, yea. my mom used to have like an 87 accord, back like 10 years ago, and she used to bring it to them, so they have been around for awhile. but i would say it'll be around the same price.

Where you are quoted a super low price over ht phone and when you get there and they do the estimate the bill gets larger.
So does anyone have a guess about how much I'll be needing to fork over?

in my neck of da' woods, at the Honda dealership it's $80 for a valve adjustment and about $20-$25 to bleed the brakes.
these are very easy tasks, im sure you could do it yourself and save some $.

I would do it myself, but I just don't have time.
School and work keeps me busy.
So it looks like around $100 in labor from a dealership huh.
I've got a guy offering to do it for $210.
I guess that would be too much to pay.

I thought was a good deal cause my friend told me that when he called Honda to adjust the valves on his ITR they wanted $350. His friend then offerend to do it for him for $50.
SO this guy seemed like a good guy to get it done from especially since he works at honda too.
Since my friend said Honda told him $350 for the valves in his car I thought 200 for my car was good. Of course he jacked the price on me since I am justa friend of a friend.
I already told the guy forget it, I'll go check the dealerships.
Thanks Guys!
