which sensor and what year Accord;
Better yet Go find it yourself;
http://www.hondaautomotivepart...h.jsp
Now you can keep the year of your Accord the 'top secret' you seem to think it is.

come on man. Do you even try? Enter you VIN # or something. If you don't know where your VIN # is, you shouldnt be driving.

Re: How much does fixing a Temperature sensor cost? (beigemonkey)
sorry guys, but cut me some slacks as this is my first car and started driving couple months ago. So i practically know nothing about cars.
What does my vin # has anything to do with the temperature gauge?
I don't even know there are 3 temperature gauges.
There are 4 meter things on the dashboard, rpm, mph, gasoline, and the engine coolant temperature. The engine coolant temperature meter is not working, it just bounce around whenever the car turns, and it's even at warning red when i turn the car off.
But an estimate how much would it cost? So even if I call an auto i know i'm not getting ripp.

On that website you can look up parts by entering your VIN (or by entering year, model, version, engine, tranny type).
Not 3 gauges, 3 sensors. Honda generally has 3 temperature sensors. One to switch on the radiator fan; one to drive the dashboard temperature gauge; & one for the engine-control computer. But... I looked & didn't see them all, so maybe the K-series engine does that differently.

If this is the case then just take it to your local dealer or shop and have them take a look at it and give you estimates on parts and labor and if it fits your budget have them fix it. From your posts you obviously do not know much about cars, which isn't bad. But your probably going to have a hard time fixing the part yourself.
If your concerned about getting ripped off then take it to multiple shops to have different estimates written up.

NO. He's got a 2003, and that picture doesn't really look like a K-series engine.
Anyway... For beigemonkey:
Replacing the sensor is almost as simple as unscrewing the old one & putting the new one in its place. Only thing is, anti-freeze comes out the hole. So you have to be ready to put the new one right in there immediately. Then you only lose a couple ounces of fluid. Make sure the engine's cold otherwise the antifreeze comes squirting out under pressure.
You started out saying that you know it's broken. Got a picture? Judging from your questions, maybe you're not sure whether it's a temperature sensor or what?

Re: How much does fixing a Temperature sensor cost? (beigemonkey)
it's night time right now so I'll get the pictures and upload it tomorrow.
Also I got another question. On my registration when i got the car it says 2003 accord, but under the hood there's a sticker that says 2004 accord. Could it be that it's a 2004 model, but bought in 2003?

Re: How much does fixing a Temperature sensor cost? (beigemonkey)
The 10th digit of the VIN is the model-year. Is it 3 or 4? That's the REAL info.
The year & month it was built is normally on a placard along with the VIN maybe in the doorjamb or under the hood.
Normally the next model-year production starts in September or so, and it's common for a 2004 car to be built in 2003. And normally the registration goes by the model-year, not the build year. So you're saying this is kinda backwards??
There's also an emmissions sticker under the hood, with stuff like sparkplug type & vacuum hose diagram. That may be newer if the hood was ever replaced.
