Default how to disable factory security system on 97 Accord SE?

Help! My security system has been occasionally going off for no apparent reason (happened at 4am last night, neighbors not happy). Any tips on how to disable the alarm or just stop this from happening? Thanks!

You should be able to adjust the sensitivity on the main box. How to get to it on a '97? I don't know, but here's how to do it on a '98 or '99:

I know, I know, it's a different generation but it may still be in the same place.

I could use some detail's on how to do this:

ground the red/blue wire on the alarm module under the passenger's seat

When you turn the alarm module upside down is the wire on the left or right connector?

There are several red/blue wire's. Could you provide a general description: Left connector, top row, 3rd wire, etc.

I assume that by grounding the red/blue wire you are saying splice a new wire onto the red/blue wire and ground the new wire under the alarm module screw?

I would greatly appreciate the advice. My alarm goes off so often that I have to leave the doors unlocked. This forum is the best. You guys have helped me solve hard problems. I did call the dealer repair department a couple of times. They were of no help.

Cudo's to Stereo69 who sent me the following fix by e-mail. I did as he suggested and my Alarm has not gone off for over (2) weeks:

I cannot rember the car but if it's a accord 98-02 the simple way to disable the alarm and still use the keyless entry is to go to the hood latch and find the 2 pin plug on it unplug it and short the 2 wires together so the alarm will think the hood is always open and not arm when you lock the doors with the switch or remote the alarm will stay in standby for the open hood that will never close!

Just below the hood latch there is a green electrical connector. The mini-grill that is in front of the hood latch is attached with (6) screws and can be quickly removed.

So what's the easiest way to short the 2 wires?

The 2 wire bundle going to the latch can be removed from the connector. The connector is a standard push latch, slide out the 2 wire bundle going to the latch. The exposed connector has female slots. I took a short piece of thin wire, stripped the 2 ends, then pushed the wire ends into the female slots. The entire connector can be removed from the car frame with push button. I then used a plastic zip tie down to attach the connector to the frame in an upside down configuration to keep water out of the connector. All done. 15 minute repair. Sweet to not hear the alarm going off any more!

Hello All!
Looked through the above link and on my 98 Accord V6 it isn't in these places. I did unplug the hood latch but still getting the flashing lights and horn. I then connected those two wires together and still no success. Any ideas of where the control unit is on the car?

Looked under the dash and under the set on the floorboard with no dice.

Thanks

I'm a female, don't know anything about cars. Have a 2002 Honda Accord, and do not see where I can disconnect wiring harness from hood latch. Can you give me more detailed help? Thanks so much.

I have 3 Hondas; 1996 and 1998 Accord Ex, and a 2006 Civic. The 1998 Accord has an aftermarket remote starter. I have been getting lots of "middle of the night" false alarms. The remote control unlock then lock resets the alarm, but it can go off again later. Reading the other responses, I suspected the hood latch switch, but I could not find any electrical wires at the hood latch itself. I looked all around and saw what looked like a mercury switch attached to the underside of the hood near the windshield. I bent it upwards and tested the alarm, which sounded about 1 minute later. So I bent the mounting for this switch downwards and got no alarm after testing and no alarm after 2 hours. I may have fixed the problem. No $$$.
