Honda dealership driving me crazy!

Honda dealership driving me crazy!
My check engine light came one and I had my mechanic read the codes. It read P1739 (2nd clutch pressure switch) and P1706 (open transmission range switch circuit). Now I've called the service department for Honda to TRY to verify the codes to ensure that the parts needed are indeed what the code says and they told me they would want to diagnose the vehicle themselves which is I think they said $100-$150. My mechanic has a pretty nice scanner. My question is does scanners sometime read the wrong codes? Does the Honda dealership scanner differ from anything else or is it just a way to get extra money. My car is a 99 sedan ex V6. Can some one point me in the direction of Honda codes. I know I can google the code but I wanna know what the Honda "book" says. Thanks to anyone that helps 😤 Frustrated

Check the side cover for damage/mud, check the wiring harness connector for damage corrosion. Switch it easily checked for opens with a voltmeter.
