Honda Accord 2000 EX Belt Question...How Many?
How many belts to change during the timing belt procedure?
Timing Belt (also called water pump belt?)
Alternator (is this called the a/c as well?) Belt
Power Steering Belt
Is the alternator and power steering belt called serpetine belts? Been watching a lot of videos and reading a lot of forums and I see different names throwing out. There are only three belts to worry about right? Waiting for my timing belt kit to come. I want to other the other belts but wasn't sure what they are called.

Simply put they are accessory drive belts. Technically a serpentine belt is a singular belt used in mostly rwd
And older vehicles in which one belt runs all accessories and - belt driven fan.

If you have the 4 cylinder F23 it has 4 belts in total. 1 timing belt (water pump) and 1 balance shaft belt. These two belts are under the timing cover. Then there are 2 accessory belts. 1 is for the Alternator and A/C compressor and the other is for the power steering.
A serpentine belt is when one belt is used to drive all of the accessories on the engine. it is routed around the crank, tensioner, water pump, alt., A/C, power steering and idler pulleys like a snake...hence the use of the term serpentine. Your accord uses two separate accessory belts.
Note: There are a number of modern FWD cars that also use serpentine belts..... Both of my Mazda's do and so does my V6 Grand Am.
Here is an example of a serpentine style belt..... This is a 2004 2.0L I4 ZETEC out of my Mazda Tribute.
The timing belt is missing from this picture.....

Hey I said mostly lol. We have a Mazda SP23 in our garage as well. Damn thing has those expensive paper oil filters too. Why is it the Motorcraft filter for my truck, which is encased in metal costs $3 less than the Motorcraft filter for the Mazda which is just a tiny open filter element and two little o rings lol.
