vague description, can't tell you what's going on based upon these details.
like MooCowMarriedGuy said what color smoke?
When it does start does it sound normal or like a WRX?
any modifications to this vehicle?
I've blown a few F23s in my day.
Do a compression test and get back to us with the results.

the smoke is really white and it only smokes if i rev it up in those 4-10 seconds it actually starts, then gas cuts off and rpm drops and it rattles like crazy and it shuts off.
I have Ngk spark plugs and wires, megan racing headers.

send the head to the machine shop and have them inspect it. Also use a straightedge and feeler gauges to check the block surface (check for warping)

i think it is a fuel problem because when it is up on the driveway with 1/4 of tank in it, it will not even start. can the headgasket prevent it from starting as well?

Re: (AccordinSam)
I would take it to a reputable repair shop and talk to them and just see if they will lisen and maybe take a quick look at it to see what they think and if they will tell you if its a blown head gasket right away without them charging you a "disgnostic fee", just to be sure because thats probably something they judge right off the bat and you dont wanna take the car in someplace and tell them to replace the HG without really knowing for sure.

It depends on how bad it is...if the headgasket is blown bad enough, I would say yes.
