Head Release/Lock Accord need help...
Ok, so my 1993 Accord is having problems with hood locking. So I took off mechanism and cleaned it real good, then lubed it with wd-40 real good put it back on and no lock. checked cable and it seemed to be working as far as when pull lever inside the cable was pulling back. but still hood wouldnt go down all the way to lock. so, I took off mechanism and with hood up I manually opened lock with finger and put mechanism on the latch and it locked. I lowered the hood with mechanism still attached and put cable back on and bolted back onto car. pulled cable to unlock and the cable went back but the lock lever didnt move, so I manually with finger pulled lock lever back and it opened like it should. So I do plan to change the cable. Here's my questions:
1. where can I get some exact instructions on how to change the cable(possibly with pics) as the forums I'm finding keep having conflicting instructions i.e. need to take off bumper, then dont need to take off bumper etc...
2. is the locking lever supposed to be really hard to push down ex: when I have mechanism off the car, I can push it onto the hood latch but with alot of force or I can hold the lever open with finger and push hood down then release lever around it, but I cant seem to push the hood down hard enough when mechanism is bolted on. And with the mechanism off the car even pushing a bar or large screwdriver type (acting as hood latch) down hard enuff to get it into place.....Again, I've saturated with wd-40 to see if that helps but not much results...
Also, I tried putting another used mechanism on the car and got same results. Not exactly sure what that means yet.
Any help would be great....
THanks

Your transmission interlock is not working if you turn the ignition without starting the car while in park you touch the brake. you should hear or fell a slight click. it could be the connection are bad. it is a small job mechanic can fix it up.

Thanks for responding, but I'm totally confused...how does the transmission interlock affect the hood locking mechanism....I cant find anything about this anywhere...I am aware of the "touch the brake click" , but how does this affect the hood lock...?
Thanks....
Thanks....

The cable runs along the inside of the driver's side fender for 94-97 Accords, due to the similarities I would wager it is identical for the 90-93. Remove all the clips in the fender lining and pull that out for access - probably also will be easier to remove the wheel too. You should see the cable clipped up over the top of the fender well.
I would just ignore wilford12, seems like he is just trying to up his post count without reading any actual content.
