So its time to replace my head gasket on my 90' DX, not too bad after ~340,xxx miles, but I was looking for some advice as to which gasket kit to buy, or how extensive of one to look for. While doing the job I would only be working on the HG, with nothing else needing to be done now (40,xxx old timing belt, new distributor and wiring, new valve cover gasket, and other things like that.) So should I get a kit or just the single gasket?

u could order a OEM from Majestic Honda or Ishino aftermarket from carparts.com or pick-up a cheap one from anywhere

I like to buy OEM or OE aftermarket since it's the same part without dealer mark ups

+1 for majestic. If you call your local dealer and ask them to match majestic's pricing they will laugh and then **** themselves haha They're below cost by a mile usually

The only time I'll ever step foot in a dealer "service center" is to pick up some official Honda power steering or trans fluid. So are you saying soley order a head gasket? Or is it customary to repace other gaskets while doing this job? Getting the parts won't be a problem, I'm just trying to figure out what all I'm going to need

I would say replace the water pump while you're at it, just for added safety and so you don't have to worry about it again for a while. Other than that, get an OEM or quality OE replacement, resurface the head and you're good.

Intake and exhaust gasket as you will be removing them to get the head off and cleaned up. Then I would consider a gasket kit for the head which is the valve seals, spark plug tube seals, valve cover etc. Just good to do them as they cause problems a lot of the time

If you're in there ask your machinist to inspect the valve seats for pitting and he can re cut them for a solid seal
