h22a swap help.. Do jdm ecus check for vtec pressure switch ?
I posted this in the prelude forum earlier and strangely it garnered no replies as of yet so I'm post it here....
I did a swap and the only thing holding me back is vtec pressure switch code 22 so I bought a jdm ecu to throw in under the assumption that it won't throw the code since I thought it didn't check for the vtec pressure switch but strangely it's still throwing the code and I'm still in limp mode. My original accord ecu works fine with no codes and the car runs fine but the thing runs in limp mode with my L11 and now my jdm N01 ecu.
Now I'm thinking the 37820-p13-N00 does not check for it but the 37820-p13-N01, which is the updated version, does check for it ?
Can someone confirm ?
For the record my jdm engine actually came with a pressure switch on it but I can't seem to get the pin to get on the ecu so I'm putting that off til I can pay someone to do it. The other 3 wires I seem to have ran correctly.
If you research this you will note that people are all over the charts on which jdm engines have the pressure switch, and which jdm engines don't, and which ecus actually do test for the pressure switch. I'm thinking that it works like this....the first couple years or three(not really sure on this)didn't have the switch but then they started having them so I think the N01 ecu came upon the scene after the N00 to make up for the switch being there. My engine is supposedly a jdm 95 vtec and it came with the switch so that shoulda told me something but it just didn't hit me until now.

some did not have vtec pressure switch ... it would read oil pressure off the oil pressure sender. i did a guys swap and just removed the plug where is the vtec pressure switch goes and put one in and then pinned it to the ecu. it was a usdm p13 though.

Ok, so I threw in an N00 and its still throwing the code 22. lol
I don't really understand. How do jdm h22s run without the vtec pressure switch if all of their ecus throw a check engine code and run the car in limp mode without it there?
I'm going to take my car down to a performance place called n1 concepts and see if I can get them to just fix the vtec pressure switch circuit by running the wire or seeing if it is a pressure problem.
The only other thing I can think of is that I'm reading the code wrong but with my accord ecu there are no codes so it has to be one of the four wires I had to run in(3 not including the pressure switch pin which I can't seem to get right).

Yay, I went down to n1 concepts and the dude managed to get the pin on and now the code is gone and the thing pulls like an sob.
I paid him 60 bucks for it.
Finally the beast is completed.
Now I just gotta clean it up a bit. Lotta half assed things I did just to get it together so I could just get it running I need to fix now. lol

The pin that goes the vtec pressure switch I couldn't get on the ecu. Granted, I prolly didn't try to muscle it on enough like the guy did. I coulda did it myself but I thought I was going to damage it. I think if I woulda put some dielectic grease on the pin before trying to put it in the connector mighta helped it get on.
I used it first with the JDM and it ran fine but appeared to not run that good at around idle so I put the L11 in which is CA emissions and which is what I would need to BAR it and it ran better on the low end. I now just need to fix up the loose ends I cut on. One thing that is annoying me is a bad shake coming from under the frame but I think it's the fact that my exhaust is kinda pieces thrown together and I didn't tighten down the bolts that hold the exhaust pipe b to the back of the block. I only have managed to get one on and it's barely on. I think it's just rattling. All of my mounts are new. I also haven't put the bracket that holds the intake manifold to the block as well. I need to put that on.
