H22 or H23 Turbo?
Well i own a 94 accord lx, sohc non-vtec f22, 5 speed...and i want to swap that pile out. What i originally wanted to do was just do the h22 conversion but i really have a thing turbocharged cars. What i was thinking was getting the h22 as planned but put money into the internals and valvetrain to make it stronger for a turbo. But the more i read online i found out that the h23 is a better engine for turbocharging...so i need some input. Should i go with a turbocharged h23 or h22? Or ive read that some people use a h23 block and internals with the h22 head...would that be good for a turbo?

Don't type in all bold, it gets on people's nerves
As for your question.....if you're going to resleeve and build your motor for high boost, go with the H22. But if you are going to boost and not build first you'll want to go with the H23 as it is the stronger stock engine internally. I personally chose to go with the built H22, but its gets extremely expensive (read $10k-13K) so if you want to go that route, know what you're getting into ahead of time
So if you're gonna build then boost go with the H22, if you're just gonna boost go with the H23

you can buy some used h22 for $4,000 or $5,000 with less than 35,000 miles. Personally id go with the h22. Less hassle.....

Uh, its more like $1500-$2500 . I don't know where you got those figures but you obviously have no clue WTF you're talking about.

4-5 grand is in the price range of a low mileage type-s h22...
Swap an h22 into the car, get it all wired right and running good then start building it. Thats what I'd do though, good luck

Honestly for the cheapest easiest route a rebuilt f22 with turbo kit will yield decent power.
If you're wanting reliability go with a h22 swap.
If you're wanting a lot of power got with h22 turbo...be prepared to spend a lot of money FI typically means money pit.

yea man, if you're looking for big power gains in the future, I would go with the h22. It comes with oil squirters which help in addition to building you block to help cool it off at high rpms and big power gains. Better platform if you have the time and money. Good luck!

You can get jdm h22s between 1500-2500. Where do you get your prices from? I wouldn't do an H22 swap if the engines cost that much.

all really depends on your hp goals and finance.
how do you figure one motor is better than another for boosting when you have intentions of having it 'built'.
the h22 is a better platform to start on because it has good baseline #'s to begin with, dual cams, better flowing head than the f22 but who cares about that with new pistons, lower CR, built head etc...
have you ever thought about turboing the "peice' that is already in your car. you could always take the 'swap funds' and get your current motor built. stock low CR, sturdy block, these motors are like the LS's of accords, good motor to boost even stock. dont underestimate the single cam powerplant.
but if you got a fat wallet im all for a sick h series turbo setup. look at dlb1994's motor that thing is sick.

Okay, well its still a stupid response because nobody pays $2000 extra for a type s motor when they plan to boost (read the title of the thread). The CR is 11.1 which isn't so good for FI. And if you're going to rebuild it and lower the CR then you wasted your money getting the typs s
