I have a leak in the junction between the feed line from the tank and the main line. The leak was under a plastic cover behind the left hand (drivers side) rear wheel.

I have fixed lines before by using rubber fuel line and clamping it at both ends, and I've done quite a bit of metal line running via brake line etc...

I would appreciate any advice on the best way to fix my leak, then i'm going to spray everything down with rust check and put the cover back on once it's fixed...

any idea's?

Get a foot of new steel line, cut out the rusted section, make some flare joints and voila - if you don't mind gas all over your face while you're flat on your back under the car. If you don't, you're a better man than me!

I went the rubber route instead, I was thinking to do a steel line and flare it with unions but that crimped high pressure feed hose had me worried, and it wouldn't flare worth a ****... some 7 dollar a foot fuel injector hose with two clamps on both ends fixed it...

I can grab it and shake it around when the cars running and it doesn't leak so I think it's good!

Silly me. I replaced the entire line Christmas Eve in my driveway (cold outside!).

New to the forum, trying to extend the life of my 95 Accord V6.
Getting a fuel leak on a full tank only, right side. I haven't pulled the backseat yet to see what I can see. Any guidance on what to look for?

What size rubber hose did you use? I have the same problem with my accord right now...I bought a foot of 5/16 fuel hose and 4 clamps...not sure if it will work or not. Let me know, thanks.

can you guys describe the way you fixed yours?? mine just started dripping yesterday!! took off the access panel cover there and the fuel feed line is so rusted I can believe its not leaking worse!! my fuel feed line is rusted from the area it connects to the high pressure line up to the area the lines come together in the plastic mount (about a foot). Also the high pressure line is questionable too of breaking if I was to go the high road and replace the entire line to the front or clamping a fuel injector hose to it. Dont have the $200 for the 2 lines and dont want to drop the tank at this point!! so im thinking of 5/16 fuel injector hose from the feed line where the rust stops to the pipe part of the high pressure line or if that part crumbles then cut off the metal part and put a brass fitting thats a double sided nipple fitting into the rubber of the high pressure and to the rubber fuel injector line and clamp everything of course!! sorry for the rant but I NEED HELP!! on deciding a good route to go so I was as descriptive as possible .... THANKS!!

I got the fix but warning do at your own risk i cut a hole in the area above fuel pump open up the return hose clamps bought a short fuel line bent it did not use fittings on ends new rubber and clamps left old one in new rubber on bottom i used a wiz wheel sparks every where you could use a jig saw 0r nibbler would be the stuff then cut the high presssure side off rubber in between it was a real pain other wise pull the tank and have many leaks the line going up to the tanks gets pin holes all the way up like cancer also if the hose leaks later you can get the 100 dollar hose off easily and replace these are a pain cause two doors have no acess panel like some THE METAL IS RAZOR SHARP BE CAREFULL YOU COULD CATCH THE CAR ON FIRE IF USING A WIZ WHEEL WITH A GAS LEAK I WAS STUPID i will post pics MB

Reviving an old thread here. I have a fuel leak on a 93 Accord. And it appears to be virtually the same as Sorcerer's.

Here is a photo of mine:



In this prior discussion, was the fix to cut the line on either side of the union and splice it with injector hose? It's definitely tight quarters in there. I'd appreciate any advice from you guys.

I thought I'd post again for the benefit of others. This seems to be a common failure point.

What I did was cut the rubber line at the crimp. Then I cut the steel line on the other side of the "S" curve and fittings. I then unbolted the bracket and removed (discarded) the bracket and fittings.

To rejoin the line, I used 5/16" steel. On the "rubber" end I bubbled the end of the steel (performed the first step only of a double flare) and then inserted it into the rubber line and secured it with a fuel injection hose clamp.

I made the re-connection on the other end using a compression union.



It's important to re-install the plastic cover, as it protects these lines from being punctured or otherwise damaged by road debris etc.

This has to be very common. I have the same exact problem as sorcerer. I went the rubber hose way. It was quick and easier than I thought. No need to drop the tank. I would recommend replacing it the correct way eventually but for now this is great. No leaks. Done.

Ok I have bene smelling gas from my '99 Accord Ex 4 cyl. with 188k on the clock. However was not seeing any puddles or visable leaks. Though maybe a EVAP hose rotted out of disconnected. However today looked under it near drivers side rear door area and spotted this seeping wet line. Took off the access home cover in the trunk and everything is OK up there except for a mouse nest I vacumed out. Where is this likly leaking from and do I have to drop the tank to get too it??

Have you thought about replacing the "clip" in the fuel line?

I think you can only replace just the inner clip and O-ring. The basket is coonected to the lines going to the front of the car. I think the leak might be from above the joint. But it disapears around the tank? Anyone have a diagram?

True that the clip can be replaced and not the "female" part of the line.....unless you get something like a fuel line repair kit from Dorman and then you get the female part and a bit of the "plastic" line and then splice the plastic line together.

"Diagram" do you want one from the service manual or one from an online Honda dealer?

Just me but the leak looks to be right there at the "qiuck connect" fitting....if it was above that then the "female" part of the connection would be wet with fuel as well.....but that is me an I know nothing about the 6th gen Accord's.

I had the same exact problem as originally stated in this thread. I couldn't believe the whole line is covered in plastic. The part that rotted out was the only piece of line that wasn't covered. I unscrewed the fitting. Went to Home Depot and bought one that fit perfectly cause none of the auto parts stores in my area had the exact one. I cut the rust off. Put the new fitting on. Flared out the end and done. It was a little of a pain but that was three months ago and it's still holding.

OK, well when I went to go replace just the fitting the metal fuel line after the quick connect was crumbly. Well now I think the fuel is leaking out of the hard line not the quick connect. Every Honda shop I speak too wants $1200 to replace ALL lines under the tunnel? I don't have that type of money. I am without a car now, I need help guys. What is my best couse of action? Shoudl I just cut out thebad section flareit and replace with a section. Should I get a hard fuel line made at a local shop and hope it works well enough. Or shoudl I speka $100's on the Honda part?

The same thing happened to me. As I went to unscrew the line it just crumbled in my hand. Panicking I just pealed the plastic back, cut the rusted line till it was good and clean. I went to Home Depot a few times before I found the fitting that fit perfectly though. That night I actually got one that fit some what and used Teflon tape till the next day. You can also try to just cut both sides and put rubber fuel line hose and double up on the clamps. Post a picture of what you have there
