Fan timer location?
I'm having a problem with the fan coming on when it should. It does come on as long as I have the a/c on, but turns off a little while after and then turns on again intermittently. The engine will start to overheat a little above the middle mark or close to the middle mark if I'm sitting in traffic without the A/C on and sometimes with the A/C on.
The fan isn't staying on as long as it should be and is not coming on when it should also.
Do you think it could be the fan timer? Anyone know the location of the fan timer? I couldn't find it in my shop manual. TIA

not ac fan correct, the other fan next to it?
this question has popped up quite a bit, i even had problems with mine, not ac fan right, the other fan. it used to come on right after i shut my engine off, then the fan would stop after a few minutes, this was due to my thermostat being stuck and the temp was up about 75% to HOT. but after i replaced my thermostat, the fan has not come on in a year. my engine temp is around half when fully warm and the fan not coming on has no negative effect.
but both fans do come on when AC is turned on.
if your temp gauge is a little above middle, you probably dont need to be too worried about this.

This is not my problem. My problem is that my fans aren't coming on when they should and if they do come on, they are not staying on as long as they should, thus causing some mild overheating in slow moving conditions.

Re: Fan timer location?
Thanks GhostAccord! Just what I'm looking for.
You are probably right about the ECT switches because they probably aren't reading right. Although I noticed the front ECT switch controls the fan when the motor is off and the rear one controls it when it's on (I jumped the harness to set my fan on all the time for a temporary fix). I'll swap my extra ones from my other motor that are good still and see if that changes anything.
Thanks again!
