F23A1, F23A4, F23A5 - interchangeable?
I have got a guy w/ 00 Accord EX 4dr M/T who blew his motor up. I have to swap in another and I know all the above engine codes will bolt in the same but are all the plugs/wiring the same? Is there any difference that I should be aware of when making the swap?

the f23a5 is not a vtec engine. its the base model engine and isnt interchangable with the other 2. im not sure if the a4 and a1 is interchangable

Sorry meant the F23A1 and F23A4. The engine I will be getting is an F23A1, which is what I believe he will have. But what is the diff between A4 and A1?

there shouldnt be much of a difference.
the F23A1 is the LEV model found in the 98 Accord and 98-99 2.3CL
the F23A4 is a ULEV model found in the 99-02 Accords

a4 has a different ecu and exhaust manifold.
they are fully interchangeable. I've swapped an a1 with a4 and vice versa.

actually doing the exact swap right now. They seem a perfect fit, although what was your guy's solution for the accelerator kickdown? It being the only blaring difference I can see.
Usually on the throttle body with my 2.3 ulev. Whats the solution to the kickdown lever on this older model? Because otherwise it seems to fit like a glove!

Re: F23A1, F23A4, F23A5 - interchangeable?
Image posted shows an H4A automatic, typically found in 90-97 Accords. These were never used with the F23 vehicles. F23 PCM has no provisions for controlling the H4A transmission. F23 Accords from 98-02 used the M6HA which had more shift solenoids, a pair of linear solenoids and two pressure switches, along with deletion of the throttle cable and VSS on later models.
What are you trying to do exactly as you have no information on what vehicle you are trying to work on, nor what modifications you are attempting to do.

Thank you Mike! Have now given up on The swap. Instead I am now trying to rebuild the f23a4 Using parts from the earlier model. Hopefully this works out if you have any advice, heads up, or any Assistance you ban dispense it would be greatly appreciated!

Re: F23A1, F23A4, F23A5 - interchangeable?
I have an 02 Accord EX with the 2.3L Vtec ULEV (F23A4). Can I put a 2.3L Vtec F23A 'jdm' engine in it and only plan to swap the ECM and downstream o2 sensor? If it has the intake and exhaust manifolds on it, will it bolt up and plug in on the existing wiring harness? Thx
